Car Park Fires, Transporters / Ships, any fires, any EV,s involved or not thread, were they the cause just there and so made fighting the fire harder.
I really can't see how they can at this stage confidently state that the fire was started by the diesel car, because they fire dept did not arrive at scene for 10 minutes according their own timetable of events, by which time it had already spread.

Exactly what I had already said, parking bays are not wide enough, if they were wide enough for both cars to open their doors fully, then these events would be not be happening, the fire break if it did not stop it completely, would certainly considerably slow the spreading down enough to give the firemen time to respond. Also, I posted this link on another thread last night, it seems that pure commercial reasons for the spacings and constructional details of this particular car park have placed at the forefront over public safety and also that of the aeroplanes that are parked around the car park. Without a shadow of doubt, there would have been a few EVs involved, and that reason alone, parking bays do need to be wider to provide a greater clearance from the adjacent cars in order to try and prevent such a runaway fire from happening again.

Yes, it was supposed to be a Range Rover and supposed to be a diesel one at that, but I have an uneasy feeling about the video and the stills of this car. Firstly, the car does not appear to be parked as the lights are on, and the headlight beams can be seen shining into the distance and not apparently illuminating a wall that would have been in front of it, if it was parked? It looks like its blocking the car on the left in, which was parked at right angles to it, suggesting that the Range Rover was in the process of being driven either to or away from a parking spot. The flames appear to be centred below the Range Rover and the on the left side. The fuel tank is located at the rear, above the axle, but that did not seem to be on fire, otherwise the flames would have been coming up from the rear and over the bumper and tailgate area. I'm wondering if the fire was in fact somewhere to the front and to the left of the Range Rover, possibly? If that is correct, what happened to the driver of the Range Rover? Was the fire officer's statement based around the evidence from the video and the person who shot the video? At this moment in time, it is impossible to say what started the fire and something that many of us have been saying for some time is that with modern cars becoming bigger, parking spaces have not kept pace. So the closeness of cars to each other certainly does not help when things go wrong like this, may be future car parks will be provided with wider bays to give a bigger space for opening of doors and a firebreak?

the truth about electric cars
Well in his case it all he does and if he only makes the lower annual income from it of £2,600 as per the website said then it is really going to even cover his car payments, on the other hand, if he gets the upper estimate of £41,000 and that is before NI and Tax etc it still is not that much. There are people around who are earning £50,000 or more a year, 9 to 5 job, paid holidays, pension, sick pay and only doing 40 hours a week. Now if that was in addition to having a full time day job as well, then yes, he is doing very well, but he isn't.

the truth about electric cars
A lot of people think that YouTubers make fantastic earnings, but they actually don't make anything like what people think. Take the MacMaster with his Porsche Taycan and his food videos only earns an estimated £2.6k to £41k a year and he has to pay tax etc out of that and his expenses. Here is a link to his YouTube earnings The MacMaster's YouTube Stats (Summary Profile) - Social Blade Stats

the truth about electric cars
Thats what I thought, but the numbers don't add up, if its worth £32,000, then the batteries are £17,000 + the £7,000 paid for the car only makes it £24,000, some £8,000 less than the Car Vertical lowest valuation for that particular car so I would have thought thats is worth fitting new batteries and pocketing the extra £8,000 no?

the truth about electric cars
This video popped up as a recommended watch, and I was puzzled by the title. The car has high miles on it, and it suddenly died overnight. He got it for a real good price, and now he is thinking of scrapping it because it needs a new battery at £17,000 from Tesla, but he got it for £7,000, and he reckons Car Vertical thinks its worth at least £32,000 so what else is wrong with it that he is not telling us?

ULEZ and other similar schemes we are being told are all about clean air for everybody but are they really just a means of making money from motorists?
Today I see that there may even more bad news for those that are affected by the expanded ULEZ charges and have started to use trains to get around London, Sadiq Khan is now looking to withdraw from the London day travel card scheme, so if he doesn't get you with ULEZ, then he'll get you by charging you extra for the tubes, buses and DLR. It is most definitely looking like a pure money grab. The article also reveals that it is looking like its all been orchestrated by Westminster after all as a means of plugging the shortfall in local authorities funding from Westminster. Shocking news about Luton Airport carpark fire
Shocked when last night when I first saw any footage of the fire in the carpark and this morning I understand that part of the carpark has collapsed. This reminded me of a similar fire in Liverpool back in 2017 which resulted in the demolition of the carpark. What is scary is that according to this report, the lessons of that fire still have not been learned. I also have attached the fire brigade report of the incident. @Lee As you have a Pixel 2 XL purchased in 2016, what version of Android is it running please, I'm curious as in the past I've found that the OS stops being supported after only a few years and the apps also stop being supported so the phone really just becomes that in most terms, a phone and a camera. I've had all makes of phone, HTC, Samsung, etc and all ended up bing just that, so I thought I'd go with a Google phone this time, thinking that as Android is a Google OS, that they would continue to support their own phones for longer, so I purchased a few months ago a Pixel 6A, have I chosen wisely or not?

the truth about electric cars
BBC ring any bells, selected media only allowed to attend Government news conferences etc, political appointments made to head up BBC to control what it reports etc. Have you had your head buried in the sand or been in a coma for the last few years, surely no further explanation is required. 🙄

How do you mean? Were you expecting to see a plane crash? That's what the title conjures up in my mind, but I knew that wouldn't be the case as my Son runs a military Aviation forum and any plane news he would have told me about,

Yes, maybe that is where the move towards touch screen controls for some of the cars controls came from. Personally, I find them a bad interface and downright dangerous, just as dangerous as using a mobile phone that is not hands free in a car.

Good luck doing that with my phone, I keep no such info on my phone, who does? Android Auto, in my opinion, is overrated. I used it once and not any more since. It is just rubbish, Google Maps trying to be a sat nav, sucks, give me my TomTom any day.

the truth about electric cars
Yes I did see this and just put it down as a form of clickbait designed to get people to either buy or subscribe to find out more. What gave it away for me was the claim about medical history and sex life data being harvested, just how on earth was a car going to do that. Tracking where you go and your speed, yeah, I can believe anything else, nah.

Riken UHP tyres
I just did more research into the tyres that were fitted to my car and I discovered that all 4 tyres had to be replaced in 2022 in order to pass the MOT as they were all below the legal limit of 1.6mm and as all tyres were of the same make and type, I assume that they were all fitted as new and yet the fronts were all worn out after 16,000 miles while the rears still have 6mm of tread? Tracking is all OK so I guess the last owner had a very heavy right foot? the truth about electric cars
@wyx087 This is a little off-topic, but I post it here as an example that what you object to with Geoff Buys Cars channel is nothing unique or unusual, I post a short video from a military aviation enthusiast like myself, who has a YT channel, and he has used clickbait tactics in his title, to make his video stand out from all the others. The same as advertisers and even political parties do the same thing in order to gather your vote come election time, and then they walk away from the very thing that helped to make your mind up to vote for them in the first place. ULEZ and other similar schemes we are being told are all about clean air for everybody but are they really just a means of making money from motorists?
@J.R. That is the best way, keep a car for 10 years or longer if its still OK, that way you are getting more of carbon created in its manufacture back, if you follow the drift. WE normal motorists with ICE cars pay through the nose for VED, although my current car is only £35 a year, old one was £180. We get charged for parking almost everywhere other than retail parks, which are camera controlled with a maximum stay of 2 or 3hrs. Some are even watching to see if you park your car and walk off site, then you get PCN in the post as they deem you parked there without shopping there. Car insurance is a rip-off, mine this year went up to £680 and the only way I could get it that low was to have a black box fitted to record my driving record and with a maximum of 8,000 miles a year, otherwise the quotes were coming in at anything between £1,200 and £4,500. Property tax is over £2,000. TV licence is £160 and income tax is pretty high, now I can understand why so many Brits want to retire in France, very tempting.
