  1. The wall mounted charger is however a bit of a giveaway, even when there is no car plugged in or even there.
  2. I have been looking at Citroen Berlingo's, Kia Sportage's and their fellow stable mates etc.
  3. You are right about the Superbs wide door sills, they are also quite deep, which makes the seat quite low. However if you have long legs, then that is not normally an issue. I do have long legs , but my problems is that those legs are getting a bit stiff as is my back as I get older, which makes it rather painful at times getting down low enough to get in and if I have to park close to a kerb on the drivers side makes it almost impossible for me to get out again.
  4. Glad you were able to get something sorted out, could have been very nasty otherwise.
  5. Even synthetic fuels, but still don't think that normal fossil fuels will that hard to get hold off, and TBH, I still think BEV will not be around in the numbers that you all seem to think they will be. I say that there is there is still a very high chance that the BEV scene will be die out once the real truth comes out, in much the same way that diesel fell from grace once more research was done into the whole diesel thing. It could just be the folk still clinging to the BEV concept that might be certifiable in the future, time alone will give us all the answer.
  6. Cubic capacity overall with seats down is similar, but not as long so step ladders would not fit, and car sits 30mm lower than the superb and rear leg room and indeed front leg room seems to be smaller as well, so that does not fit my requirements.
  7. Again, the brain did not connect the dots, see other my other posts for more information. Checking the dimensions shows these to be worse for my requirements than the Superb anyway as it is lower, not higher, thus making it even less suitable.
  8. Can you name me one EV that I as 6ft 4" tall driver could drive comfortably and still have space behind me for another 6ft 4" person to sit in comfort, and I have 3 of these tall people to allow for? The car also now needs to higher off the ground than my Superb to make it easier for me to get in and out, also not costing an arm and a leg to buy, as I at 76 this year would not get credit option. Don't discount ICE yet, I bet it will fossil fuel still be in plentyful supply in another 50 years and electric cars might not still be thing then.
  9. I think not somehow, I want something easier to get and out of and certainly not something that I have to add extra infrastructure for, assuming the HA would even grant me permission for in the first instance. I'm currently unaware of any other HA tenant running an electric car with a home charger, or even having an electric car and using public chargers, on my estate.
  10. Wow, are you admitting to being a law breaker then, think about how your actions might have accidently ruined some poor families life if the worst had happened 😨 Gosh, it looks as if the Scots are the bad boys then after all 😀. I can honestly say that I never hid behind my parents insurance, I have always had insurance in my own right and speaking of which, I have just discovered while looking at changing my car for something a little easier to actually get in and out off, that my current provider is no longer offering any car insurance, so once current policies expire, everyone has to find other providers 😒. Only a couple of months left to run so will delay changing car until then I think.
  11. Even if you are a fully trained mechanic, without some prior experience of working an DSG gearboxes, I would have personally have kept well clear of them and invested in someone who had plenty of experience,
  12. I think it does, watch this video.
  13. As @Gammyleg said, there is proscribed method on how to fill the DSG box with oil and think that you must follow it precisely other wise you run an elevated risk of major damage. I would not ever take the risk of even attempting to start the engine with first following that procedure to fill the gearbox correctly. There is dedicated machine for this as in this video. https://youtu.be/TMiWH5YjUIg
  14. In that case then, it is an indication that the small internal Lithium Ion battery is failing, I had that happen before on my 512 dash cam, sourcing a new battery and fitting it will cure that issue. If you don't feel that is something that you could do, then Nextbase do offer that service for you.
  15. When you say it threw a wobbly, I assume that it switched from displaying the speed to a live feed display of the road? This what happens with with my Nextbase 622GW and apparently it is caused by the dip in supply voltage when the Starter kicks in. The good thing however is the camera continues to record and is not affected by the change in display. This will happen regardless of the fuse you are connected to.
  16. Agree HIGNFY is about the only thing on BBC worth watching, wish they would bring Angus Deayton back to chair, there was something magical about the chemistry between the trio, just as there was with the Top Gear trio of Clarkson, Hammond and May.
  17. Remarkable how BBC has so far apparently been silent on this, another win to the YouTube media creators and yet so many are anti YouTubers when it is looking even more then ever that MSM is being controlled in some form, admitted not everything on YouTube is as it seems, but a large part is factual and as yet not controlled.
  18. This is quite a good comparison of a Nissan Leaf and Nissan Micra Petrol, both purchased new and kept for 3 years, 48,000 miles and after 3 years, and even assuming you was able to charge your leaf 100% free while your micra would have cost you £6,400 for petrol, the micra would still be the more cost effective car overall by £13,800 saved in your back pocket. Now that amount would vary for other cars and of course does not cover things like tyres, servicing etc, but even with the micra requiring servicing which the leaf wouldn't (allegedly) you would still be better off with the micra.
  19. @Ootohere well that to my mind speaks far more about the attitude of the natives and also of course of both KFC and McDonalds for not keeping the litter collected up and removed from site or is that perhaps a reflection on the local council for not making that a condition of granting them a permit to trade? The bins are much same as those employed in most places and you can't blame the poor old birds for them pulling the litter out looking for the odd titbit. You say the bins are often set on fire as well, I suppose you have to thank the local youths for that, probably bored out of their tiny brains as they can't be much else going on to occupy their minds I'm guessing, seems strange to me as for some reason, my impression of Scotland was that the people seemed to be more civilised and well behaved then the English, how wrong was I?
  20. Those bins are perfectly OK, more likely the people don't actually understand what litter is maybe, we have similar bins down South but not the amount of litter. Down here McDonalds operate a litter patrol and collect any of their discarded packaging etc into plastic bags and then put them into their own hinged lids on them.
  21. I'd still rather sit in my own armchair/sofa than go to a community centre or sit in my car, each to their own I suppose, but thats just me with my logical hat firmly on my head.
  22. Maybe, but I bet most would use it to help their heating bill at home, would you like to sit outside in your warm car all day instead of being in the comfort of your armchair etc, watching TV etc, with the handy loo just a few steps away without having to get of the car into whatever the weather outside is chucking at you, and back again to car and risk catching something really nasty in process. We all know that you love your electric car and are passionate about it and generally all electric cars in general and you can no problems with them, but come on not everyone shares that passion.
  23. Why so negative, were you actually there when he took the little "5" on a test, he might have been given specific instructions not to take it out of the town etc, or he might have only had it for a certain time limit. He was actually being really glowing and was gushing about how good the car was and all you can do is knock him and poke fun at him? Yes, it is the fan that makes the noise in air conditioning, but do you know where the fan is on the Renault 5 as opposed to where it is in his Taycan? For instance, my first car was a 1957 Hillman Minx and IIRC the heater fan on that car was right at the front in the engine bay next to the radiator and that made made it very quiet inside the car. That car also had a very ingenuous vent system that by pulling a knob beneath the dashboard a blast of cooling air would be directed right into front footwells that was ram driven direct from intakes directly behind the front radiator grill, a very useful thing on a really hot day. Car designers of today could learn something by taking a look at just how things were done years ago, we really do make a lot of things overly complicated, just because we can, when sometimes keeping it simple might be the best option.
  24. My instant reaction to that answer would be, why has this suddenly manifested itself, its a 2017 model, 8 years old so how come the software issue has only just become apparent?
  25. I thank you for your suggestion, but I can't see how having the instant torque available that so many EV drivers willingly point out is there and hence their brilliant performance from a standing start is a benefit when driving on snow without the addition of some sort of advanced traction control like that found on of road type vehicles?
