  1. That's a relief then. When I bought it the garage overfilled it with oil, would that contribute to this? The breather would have sucked more through wouldn't it?
  2. Thanks all! Put my mind at rest a little. What could cause the blue smoke I get when I first start it in the morning every day?
  3. That much oil shouldn't be passing the turbo into the hoses causing them to look like that though surely? Or is that how diesels are?
  4. Hi guys, I wonder if anyone more clued up than me could help. Since I bought my VRs I've noticed a little blue smoke when the car is started every morning, I presumed it wasn't anything to worry about and carried on driving it as normal. I've researched it and it seems reasonably common. Today I went to do an oil and filter change and noticed the bottom intercooler hose was absolutely covered in oil at the join. I removed the undertray and noticed that the metal intercooler hose was also covered in oil. You can also see that the outlet of the turbo has oil around the join to the boost hose. This next picturemay show it a tad more clearly: The car drives perfectly. No smoke at all (that I can see) when driving. None of my friends have mentioned it when following (all car nuts too so would have said). The pictures look pretty conclusive to me that the seals have gone / are going. What do you guys think? Is it normal or?
  5. Worcester by the looks of it. I may be in touch soon too
  6. Birmingham to Tywyn, Wales. Hardly a road trip but 110 miles none the less.
  7. Eurocarparts have a decent sale on this weekend. You might be able to pick some pagid ones up for reasonable money.
  8. Nitron (probably have to be custom made) would be my choice.
  9. Personally I'd spend £2000 on an Octavia VRs and throw 1500 (maybe less) at that. That should see you stage 2 and 230-240bhp with 250ish ft/lb. Spend the rest on a nice holiday. My stage 1 1.8T often saw 40mpg on long trips to Wales (being sensible), 28-30 on my daily commute into Birmingham.
  10. Thats around what I pay, same age, same driving experience, same company but I have less no claims (2 years as a named driver) and a much worse postcode.
  11. Completely agree with the above. We stayed at camping f1 on the Friday and Saturday nights the toilets were vile and we all wished we had looked for a more substantial campsite with proper showers and toilets. Not portable ones. It was about 10 minutes drive from the campsite and we never queued to park, it was only around €10/day too I think. We left as soon as the race finished on the Sunday to catch the ferry home and got stuck in a small queue but it was no worse than leaving your average football match. If your not sat down by about 8am on the Sunday you will struggle to get a decent view, and folding chairs are a must!
  12. I presume the oil lines use crush washers? If so did you replace these?
  13. To put it in perspective, I got mine from a dealer a fortnight ago. 04 plate, 106k, 13 service stamps, 2 cambelt changes, £3795 and its pretty mint. There are nice ones out there if your prepared to travel/look.
  14. Im the same, 4 years/60,000. Mines just had its second change at the dealer who I purchased it from as part of the sale (car is on 106k). The parts came to £150 inc a new aux belt, i'd imagine its 2/3 hours labour so £369 at a main dealer isn't too bad in my opinion.
  15. Hi guys, Im James. Just thought id introduce myself as I used the site quite a lot for research prior to buying my new car. Its an 04, Fabia VRs and I must say I really like it, I bought it to replace my MK4 GTi, as the 1.8T engine was just too thirsty. Here's a pic after I cleaned it (Yesterday) When I collected it from the garage.. Have no real plans for it, just stick diesel in and enjoy it. Spent far too much in the past modifying cars :| Cheers
