  1. Quite a restoration there Chris.
  2. I was considering this one, but a works do has been planned and I think I may be attacked by the beer monster until the early hours on Friday. Looks like i will have to live vicariously this time. Waiting for a full and detailed write up . Would also love to know what sort of discount is granted on the day.
  3. How would you rate the finish from clarity chris? I know comparing these things is a bit of a fools game but better than jetseal? Up there with abyss?
  4. dont suppose you got any more flavour for what content of the course while you were speaking? That asda is massive. Sits overlooking the A500 like a tribute to a potteries deity
  5. Looks like a beast of a motor and 10 times better after you had worked your magic, top effort. Looks like I am firmly in the minority but have to say the colour does nothing for me. Different in the flesh maybe.
  6. Just a thought, but would it be worth setting up a page on just giving chris? One of the lads at work used it to manage the cash collection from his marathon fund raising. Would allow donations without having to go through you and from memory would that would allow for gift aid on the donations and also allow persons to donate remotely. If you dont end up going the just giving route then its worth completing a "sponsorship" form allow the charity to collect giftaid. Best of luck with this anyway. Ps Are we still on for the first full week of nov?
  7. cheers pal, at less than £4 i really cant complain too much.
  8. Don't suppose you remember what you paid or the seller, I'm still undecided the.
  9. It was damaged yes. Cant remember the exact order of what happened when, but it was stiff, and then undoing it i or putting it back on I broke off one of the lugs (which i assume had been damaged previous to my ownership). Any once I had put the damaged cap back on it was much stiffer to get off so I used a inappropriate tool a little too indelicately and have damaged the plastic handle. To be honest I knew i would have to replace the cap at some stage so wasn't trying my hardest to be gentle. I have also seen other threads about stiff caps previously so dont think it is a unique case. In any road i found a Porsche 911 one for about £20 which looks a little more robust. Not sure I can justify £20 + post for an oil cap so that there is the decision to make.
  10. if you end up going can you take one of those dodgy rogue trader style hidden cams in a tie or briefcase and share with the masses
  11. There's an audi stealer down the road so will give them a call.
  12. evenin' all My vrs is one of the many that likes a regular drink of oil, and also has a stiff filler cap. In the process of loosening the cap with a set of grips last time out i've broken off top half of the filler cap so need a new one. So question time lads and ladies, does any other cap VAG or otherwise fit that is: a) more robust and/or b ) easier to undo (less prone to bouts of stiffness) ta very much edit - unintended smilie removal
  13. you wouldnt be the first one to say that, cant type fast enough to keep up with my brain and evidently clairvoyance isn't a skill in massive abundance on Briskoda :p However had you managed to read my mind, you would have known i was referring to the obsessive detail website http://obsessivedetail.co.uk/?product=obsessive-detail-winter-protection-package which have a couple of reasonably priced kits listed. If the wax and sealant are both of decent quality then it a decent shout to me. Also regarding the Abyss I know you and Dinski have the paste version, but isnt the spray the same beast, just with a different delivery method? Even the spray abyss is considerably more expensive than the spray at the website above, which made the comparison interesting.
  14. spotted that Chris, but thankyou It was the actually the reason I asked, I thought he had done it previously not too long ago, which would have prompted the question whether he felt the hellshine was so much better than what was currently on that Carl thought it worth stripping back and reapplying, or whether it was just time and Abyss is Carl's product of the moment.
  15. Without turning this into a complete and shameless thread hijack if one was to purchase the DAS6pro on the DW gb and also partake of the prospective pads buy the Samuir (Ste?) looks to be putting in place what else would be needed for a middle of road starter DA kit? Race blue octavia which is fine, light blue-grey fiesta that is a little swirly and a battered white citroen van which is looking like a cracking no risk test platform at the mo. What sort of saving is to be had picking up a second hand machine, the few that I have seen have been pricier than I would have expected compared to the £100 group buy.
  16. Certainly doing a bit of promotion on behalf of Autobrite Carl, motors looking very nice. Didnt you apply a Lsp to your missus car not a month ago, or am I getting mixed up? (actually could have been a qd thread)
  17. Nice work Chris, think the famous Bradford sunshine let you down there, the ambient light looks too poor reflection porn. Is that the sealant Mark has in the group buy currently? I think it was compared to Hellshine Abyss in that thread, how do they compare in your (or anyone elses) opinion? And to go slightly off topic sorry, there are a few packages on the website that look decent value dependent on the quality of the sealant and wax. Has anyone used the wax and are able to compare it to more common waxes?
  18. Nice work Chris. Have to say I love a black car, not that any of mine have ever been that shiny. Something to aim for now I know a little better..... By the way is that a swirl torch you have acquired there chris? how do you find it? dont they cost a bob or two?
  19. i've seen this thread before, know what the machine does and know I'm in the styling and car care section, but every time I click on the thread I'm still a little disappointed its a car dryer. I dont even know what I'm hoping to see here.
  20. So its called a creeper then , this was the sort of thing I referred to in the now locked thread but didnt know the name. And now I do !
  21. I'm curious how much I would pick up from one of the ab days, as I' m not big on practical experience but have done a fair old chunk of reading of guides and forums the past few months. I'm sure there was mention of a shop discount on the ab days, any idea how much this is?
  22. Another nice car and another fine job quick question, on the last couple of details you have gone back to actual clay rather than a mit, is there a reason for this? better result? quicker?
  23. +1 on the job Chris, nice work. Always fancied one of these with the mental revvy engine, turbo is the lazy way to get the power :peek: 200hp seems almost routine now but quick car 10 years ago. Would probably still give my remapped octy a bit of a pasting, especially through the bends.
