  1. Did you end up having a pop at this? Interesting at that money to see how anyone could hope to make profit out of that, unless a job lot was bought from a liquidator or such for pennies. I dont know if is anyone "in the know" enough here to answer, but it would be interesting to know before labour, distribution and margin what it costs to make a product, and how much that cost varies between the price points from supermarket own brand to £100 hand poured.
  2. Nice looking product but my wheels would need a refurb before I would even think about that stuff. Mixed reviews or not, I do love the name. Sounds sci-fi, but im not sure whether in a macho way, or an accidentally camp 70's scifi way. edit to correct my horrific quoting skills
  3. think i have a latent clairvovant gift developing, I can see a vision, its a wax appeal group buy on berry blast on a slightly more serious note, im pretty certain i have absolutely no requirement for 30litres of qd (@ 5:1 ) but is it any good?
  4. Will be nice to put another face to a name, I look forward to meeting you.
  5. I could only see three items in the sale, is that correct?
  6. looks like i missed out on the spray abyss, out of stock.
  7. dammit and i just sat there looking for what changed, what's wrong with me.
  8. That's a stunning colour and a real first class finish to boot, nicely done sir . Can almost forgive it being a ragtop
  9. The VAT is itemised Chris, but not added to the price. The cherry glaze was advertised on the site at £6 and that is what I paid, hopefully a quick check of your confirmation email should show the same? Err Carl, dont you already have the paste version, a sample of the paste version and one of the obsidian waxes. Why two bottles? As a footnote Kevin did mention the paste abyss might just shade it durability wise over the spray. Not going to stop me getting one mind, I love a bargain, though apparently not as much as Dinski :p
  10. I assume you know already, but you can stack your orders by selecting collect in store and then ring up to sort delivery of the combined orders.
  11. thanks chaps. I dont have eraser, so would 50% IPA or a quick wash be better before sealant?
  12. lol, yeah that was the plan for today but some muppet was using two browsers when placing the order and the DA arrived but without polish. A big thankyou to Dave @ cyc who sorted me out and put the sonax polish in the post for me, which may just turn up tomorrow. Doesnt deserve to be buried in this post, but couldn't recommend cyc highly enough, fantastic customer service. Tomorrow, I think the plan is to use the paint cleaner polish (liquid gold) on the sides as there isnt much (visible swirling). Depending on the postman then maybe one or two passes on the roof, bonnet & a pilars with the DA using sonax 04/06. (any pointers on which pad to use from the group buy?) Also I'm a little torn as to whether to use the prima amigo glaze I have for fear of reducing the sealant bond and therefore longevity over winter, any thoughts? Anyway, sealant of choice then a coin toss between the britemax liquid wax and the nattys paste (thanks ste) for gloss.
  13. Not that i want to put you lovely gents off the idea of a roadtrip to the potteries finest, but as i posted in another thread a little while ago I'm happy to collect a few orders and stick them in one big box marked West Yorkshire, or anywhere else for that matter, just cover the p&p. If it were going to one place you could share the postage, but to be honest I'm sure Mark @ AB would do that for you anyway, subject to AB not being horrifically overwhelmed this time. Up to you anyway, open offer.
  14. I was down at AB over the weekend on the B2B course, but was wearing my sensible pants so rather than splurge on hellshine I thought id wait for the thanksgiving sale (well its not December is it). I did however pick up a sample pot of fk1000p so will have a game of eenie meenie with that, Jetseal or Britemax Extreme elements. thanks for the advice though gents, much appreciated.
  15. I made it along on Saturday, it is in fact my hand on the DA in the facebook pic. The weather didnt help, bit cold & damp. The guys Kev & Clive clearly know their stuff well, and are good at passing that knowledge over. Most of what can be said has been in the earlier posts. It is at the end of the day a back to basics course, so for anyone who has a good idea about a proper wash routine maybe wont take a huge amount away from the morning session. In the afternoon the polishing session was where I picked up more to be honest, and again it was clear that Kev and Clive were talking from years of experience. They were happy to talk answer questions and talk around anything detailing in a down to earth friendly way, a real no question is too daft approach. If i were to speculate on the choice of cars I would guess they were looking for something with not too bad paint and no protection. No correction was attempted on the cars, just wheel decon, foam, wash & dry, though all well presented and interactive if you fancied getting wet. There was a lance product applied that used to be called curious and it did give a better finish to an unprepared car than I would have expected. Cherry glaze was then applied, followed by spray abyss on the bonnet of the swift as a demo. Also demo'd was the repel window sealant. sadly we didnt get a preview of the sales which is a shame, but still picked up a few bits.
  16. How important is matching the qd to the product? if I have read correctly NGPS is a sealant, so therefore would project 32 or BSD work similarly? What do the products do better as the price goes up Ste? Is there a marked improvement (that would show on a 7 year old skoda rather than a bentley?)
  17. To be honest I havent set a budget, which is part of the problem along with the huge choice available. If someone were to say that brand x is £50 and it is all things to all men I would buy it instantly. I think I'll see what they demo at AB on Saturday then choose. Thats very generous Carl thank you, and were I not going on the AB training day on Saturday I would have taken you up on that. Any more thoughts on what you prefer, or the up/downsides of Abyss vs Obsidian?
  18. you might be in luck (well sort of). They were fully booked up today when I rang, so I asked to put my name on the reserve list. 4 hours later I got a call as someone had dropped out. I can still remember my first and second thoughts when I entered the shop. First was "I cant beleive all this stuff is for cleaning cars" and second was "how the f**k did they get that Alfa in here.
  19. In a can you say?, dont think i've seen many like that. Cheap too, certainly a contender.
  20. sorry ben, didnt see your reply there. That certainly looks like the sort of thing from the write up, and a familiar face posting underneath it on the cyc website - hello Chris. The comment before chris' alludes to following this with a product with lime prime because of the micro abrasives. Is this needed or even recommended?
  21. thanks carl I've got a cleaner polish from ab already, was thinking something with a little cut to remove the few remaining swirls on mine and the swirls on the other car. When you say an all in one would be easier, do you mean quicker in a "why take two bottles into the shower" way or easier for another reason? also regarding AIOs, would the protection laid down by one of these reduce the effectiveness of what would follow, ie would it lessen the bonds that are needed?
  22. Just booked in on Saturdays course after a cancellation. Probably safer to get some polishing practice in before a car I own.
  23. What to use for the winter is the question? open to suggestion as to sealant, hybrid, sealant topped with wax, or just wax but overwhelmed by the options. Chris used jetseal topped with authentic which looked rather good, but I dont think the authentic lasted too long. I have a bottle of JS and a bottle of britemax extreme elements. I have a tub of nattys blue but had that down as a summer type. So what to buy.....dont mind spending a few quid, but thoroughly overwhelmed by the choice. And it also seems a shame to pay full price close to sale times. looking a waxamomo for example have... dodo purple haze pro panel pot @ £6 bouncers vanilla ice sample @ £9 or bouncers fortify @ £25 sonic carnubavore @ £35 bouncers vanilla ice @ £50 today im a very confused boy.
  24. Afternoon friends, detailers and Briskodians. Could do with a little advice please. Today or tomorrow is order day for the DA I've not gotten around to buying. The DAS pro is the current favourite based on ealier reading and conversations. Willing to be swayed still. Thanks to Ste it looks like im sorted for pads, so polish would be the missing part of the part of puzzle. Recommend me one please. It will be used of a race blue Octavia from 08 and a 10 plate ford fiesta. The octavia isnt horribly swirly, and those on there only show up in a certain light. The fiesta is swirly but the colour hides it well. Might even be used on a white citroen shed of a van as a tester first. I am a novice at machine polishing so will be reading like a good'un over the next day, but please keep than in mind with product selections. ta Simon
