  1. Just out of curiosity, what colour of light is used in these swirl spotters, and by extension what is reckoned to be the best colour for the purpose? I only ask because the most obvious most light i for spotting swirls I've seen is the car park lighing outside the local working mans club, followed by the streetlight outside my house. Both are the very yellow oldschool street types.
  2. yeah, something about the internet that turns a good few people into morons.
  3. Mixed news but at least its a start. I must have missed it earlier in the thread, but what does the gen kit contain? and do you have a price/part number/supplier? Tempted to try this and also to try some 17s instead of the 18s to try and reduce the tyre noise, but have loads of tread left on the Assy2s and winter tyres. Bugger.
  4. probably better moving this or re-asking this in the styling and carcare section, some top lads in there.
  5. As per the pm conversation yes please to clarity mr sparkly.
  6. Pcv replaced and appears to be back to its normal self. Thanks kidology. Interestingly the garage I took it to were quite non comittal about whether the pcv would fix it.
  7. So from the graphic, what sort of durability range would be expected from authentic? (i know, bit of a "how long is a piece of string" type question as so many factors)
  8. Interesting, +1 to the list of interested onlookers. Almost something you dont want to work tooo well, else you'll be forever trying to get the exact same balance of product. Off topic, but how is the clarity holding up?
  9. yeah, I ended up there last night via a general google search for the fault codes. All 3 point back possible air intake leaks. The general googling did also point me in the pcv direction before kidology said the same, I didnt want to prejudice peoples advice by pulling that one out of the air. Anyway its booked in for the techies to look at tomorrow, hopefully a quick easy fix and will be back to full capability this time tomorrow.
  10. Evening Once again asking the lovely people of this forum for a little advice. Car is idling a little rough and for the past 2 days has revved slowly of its own accord up to 1500 and slowly dropped back down. May even have been running a little rough at lowish revs, but barely noticeably. Seems well behaved enough under acceleration. Scanned today, report below. My clumsy googling suggests either pcv, and/or a leak in the intake system somewhere. Any other ideas? Gar will be dropped in to a garage as soon as practical, should I insist any parts are replaced first? Assuming the garage agree I was looking at pcv & fuel filter to start. 11. Laff82 pack 2, can some kind soul please tidy my post im on a mobile.
  12. What about more than one snall though? A specially trained squadron of snails.
  13. A black 106 xsi of all things, loved that car but was 10 years old and I was worried about reliability. The replacement xsara vts cost me a fortune (at 21) to buy and insure.
  14. Was beading much better this morning, must have been the heavy rain droplets disturbing the beads as soon as they formed. Yes chris bsd on every third wash, save for the one off experiment with pro 32/bsd. I'll maybe increase to every second as I rarely get wash it more than once a week.
  15. Painting of the three will attract the most chips IMO. Wrapping is probably the way forward. Just thinking out loud but plasti dip can be peeled off, so if it that soft maybe it resists chips? In any case the standard octy 1 section, or 2 for that matter may be better footfall and more answers. Im personally not a chrome fan so I've aquired a painted blue one and a replacement grill interior.
  16. Just happened to be walking to my car with my phone in my hand, so thought i would take a pic or two of the protection 3 months on. Beads aren't quite as pretty as they were, though not sure if this is LSP degradation or the heavy rain that was coming down. Could even just be a little dirty so Ill look again in lighter rain after a wash. Was still a million miles better than the unprotected car parked next to me, and still looks great in the dry. and a last one this captcha while uploading the above seemed appropriate for this forum
  17. Not sure I would be taking my recommendation, still a relative(ish) newb. But joking apart i happened to be in the Autobrite shop and Mark recommended liquid gold which seemed to do a decent job. Lime prime lite was one of the recommendations i was given when i asked though ive never used it. Probably best to firm up the rest of your order and ask for a recommendation from whoever you end up buying from.
  18. A cleaner polish will help prep the paint giving the LSP(wax or sealant) the best chance at longevity. If you have the time and budget also look at decontamination with a tar remover and then fallout remover and clay or clay mitt/cloth. Halfords though much maligned do some reasonable products on 3 for 2 if you forget something, or even ECP with free delivery if you aren't in a rush.
  19. The attendant did look a bit puzzled by the daft grin on may face when he was going to town with his brush for the pre wash.
  20. Tempted by this, but reckon the stuff I've got should last me well into the new year. Do thet do this sort of offer regularly?
  21. I went through one of the àrc washes this week, felt wrong but I can see the appeal. Anyway it was a swirly 60hp polo courtesy car that I must have subconsciously wanted to punish for being a heap.
  22. What would one of these do better/differently to das6 pro? And would the occasional use weekend warrior be able to tell?
  23. has he got another one coming up Chris, or are you refering to the obessive detail (clarity?) sealant?
