Blown turbo

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 54 plate Vrs which blew it's turbo this weekend - 3½ months after the warranty expired.

Anyone have any experience of this. The garage had never seen this happen before, especially on such lowish milage car (sub 42K miles).

just search my good man, millions of threads with useful info

Good result then if Skoda are covering it ! :D

Its out of warranty!

Was the car remapped? As said- a number of these has occurred before. It is still rare though. It seems you are unlucky.

Hope the damage has gone exhaust way not engine way...

No, it wasn't re-mapped - bog standard VRS.

The possible engine / exhaust damage is something I'll have to keep an eye on.

I might be back with more questions...........

Yes, but if you read his comments on editing the post, he says Skoda UK are paying for it. :)

That's a good result SUK picking up the tab.

Great result! :)

So if skoda replace a blown turbo then after 3.5months the warranty runs out. Surely the turbo alone has some form of guarantee regardless of any outstanding warranty.

Not sure what the deal would be regarding a warranty outwith Skoda.

was you raggin it or something? hope that dont happen to mine lol!

If you insist on paying something for the parts say 10% then your part should have the 2 year parts warranty ;)

Just unlucky by the sound of it i'm afraid.

Nope, wasn't going particularly hard. Sitting at an island immediately after coming off a 3 mile dual carriageway, then "pop"

I think i'm with Jonny on the unlucky theme.
