Hello

Couldn't resist, so since we're the proud new owner of a Skoda Felicia, thought we'd join the forum we found a few days ago.

To give you a little history, the car tried performing skodacide on a 3 foot thick stone wall at 50mph, that's how we first met, I was asked if I could fix it for nothing and insert a new headlamp and indicator unit and straighten it out. Well, who couldn't resist an opportunity to freely bash a car back into shape? That's actually when the if you can call it, 'love afair' started, I cleaned it, gave it a little TLC and hey presto, the car was back on the road. It has just had all the brakes over hauled, along with new pipes, so couldn't let it go to waste, but........the clutch was slipping - a lot!

Well, that's how we ended up with the car, half a tank of fuel left in it too! The previous owners have now bought a clapt out Proton (which won't last if they look after it the way they did the Skoda) - still, we got a rather tatty skoda to love and care for! The past few days have meant removing the gearbox - that was fun  had to kill a bolt or two, and yes one of the electrodes from the reversing light switch broke! Still, the gearbox is now on the floor, the clutch has totally desintergrated, I do like it when things properly go on something, not much left of it apart from dust, a few springs and some shards of metal  Also at 96k it's the original clutch, so can't complain too much! No idea how to get it back together yet, still not got my trusted Haynes manual either! So I predict lots of fun ahead - ooo, and I polished the rocker cover just for fun!

Still, it should replace my wife's PUG 306 1.9D which currently has a back wheel about to drop off, two shot suspension mountings, fan relay gone, and half the electrics contaminated with gremlins, also known as silly PUG plugs and sockets! If you're wondering how we run these cars on the road, we live on a tiny little island where no MOT is required, as long as it's reasonable condition and taxed, you can run MOT exempt! :)

So hello from Tim n Tara!
