Powdercoated Wheels

Featured Replies

Ok Guys,

Need your opinion here, I'm thinking of getting the wheels done in July to get them powdercoated and just wondered what you thought.

Do you think I should go gloss black wheels on my yellow vRS (Standard wheels) or slightly black.

What do you think?

regardless of what davemurphy007 says about them, gloss black wheels look good  and would contrast well with the yellow, what colour are your side stripes though?

Gloss black or dark anthracite

Stripes are gloss black, I think it would work really well the price I got is £190 and that includes a refurb as well, tyres, powdercoated and blasted, and balanced and fitted.

My only problem is will SWMBO let me as it's her car as well!

Just do it Davy.

You can have 2 of my silver wheels for her side of the car. :D

lol thats funny mate, at the moment SWMBO seems to do the majority of the driving!

Been toying with it over lunch weighting up how cool the car would be and how easy the wheels would be to clean, think it would defo change the look of the car.

Do you think it would cheapen the car?

Just something my aunt and grandad said it would be quite cheap looking.

I dont think it would cheapen it at all, unless it was a bad job that was done.

I think gloss black would look good on your car; would go well with the theme.

Do it!

Of course, i could always do a bad photochop attempt for you first if you like! ;):)

With the company name I don't think it would be as they have been in business for as long as I can remember.

Thanks for the offer Kay, but my avater is the photochop of the wheels done by someone on SVAG, unless you want to, it's prob not the greatest pic through.

Would it be rude to ask who the company is? (PM if you don't want it out there) As I'm looking for a place to get mine coated too.

With the question though, I'm not a fan of gloss black on pretty much anything, and black wheels really don't appeal to me on anything. So I'd look for an off-black personally. But it's all personal opinion in the end? Depends what you like.

Mort,

Davy is in Edinburgh, so if you're in Derby, i dont really think using the same company would be of help.

It's Newlife Tyres in edinburgh Mort

Get them done gloss, slight tint on the windows and SLAM IT! lol

don't tempt me with more mods, I quite fancy a set of tints on the car, but not so sure on lowering it due to speedbumps all over my area.

Edinburgh speedys are terrible ! :(

  • Author

tell me about just stuck the worst set ever in my area and it's a stop job for them even if the car is standard so you don't jar your back going over them

To be quite honest I've only got another couple of things after the wheels to do and thats me happy with the car.

Same down here lol Speed bumps just let people get a better look at your car when your going over them slowly lol lol Get it lowered n tinted! lol

can i tempt you with a Dragon Performance tuning box???? might be up for sale soon as i'm about to aquire an AMD Oneclick lol

how much?? It's tempting

lol paid £210 for it about 6mnths ago......let it go for £150 or might be open to a SENSIBLE offer lol

Worried about cheapening the look of the car?

It's a classic case of locking the stable door after the horse has bolted.

The black crud on the flanks has done that already.

Same old story mate, it doesn't matter what anyone says as long as you like it.

thats the main thing that you like it, I think you really need to see the stripes in the flesh as pics do not do it justice, it is a bit marmite but I love it and it breaks up the yellow of the car.
