Hello I'm new here

Featured Replies

Hello eveyone, this is my first post and I have a few servicing related questions.

I have a 2001 Y plate Fabia 1.9 TDi and it is due a 60k service. The timing belt aside I will be doing this myself but when I phoned around a couple of places to get prices for the service bits I keep getting asked if it has a PD engine or not, how can I tell?

I have been quoted £284 all in for the timing belt job from a main dealer, this sounds reasonable-ish to me as I know it’s a big job but I'd like to know what you think.

Where is the the fuel filter and is it easily accessable? Sorry I have been too lazy to look under the bonnet this morning

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

It will or should be a PD engine.

The manuals should tell you what the engine is or an engine code.

Quote is about right mate.

I just bought a timing belt kit, water pump, oil filter, oil, and brake fluid for £125ish quid from Euro Car Parts.

Timing belt kit alone was £68 I think.

You may be able to ask another mechanic to change it if you buy the belt.

I think all the 1.9 TDis are PD engines.
