Featured Replies

i currently have a trials bike i want to take along with afew others, just towing harm or strain the car at all? the bikes wieight about 150kg each which the trailer have hold 3. so your talking 800kg max including the trailer? but i dont want to harm or stress the car good idea or bad?

You cannot legally tow with the VRs.

look at your log book the towing weights are missing ;)

No-one makes a towbar for the fabia thats approved :o

I have heard this before, that the VRS is not homologated for towing - why and how can this be - anyone have any ideas or reasons? (or is there another 4 year old thread that I need to resurrect?)

man i need to get my bikes to the track! i dont want to buy a van its too much money and work. wonder why i cant have a tow bar!?

Just rememberd this fabia on piston heads has a tow bar.....might be worth giving him a ring and ask about it ?

Skoda : VRS 130 BHP 6 SPEED

let us know how you get on

just put a westfalia tow bar on my vrs last week and fits fine! Been towing a camping trailer this week back and for to the tip etc

I don't think the issue is wether you can find one to fit or not... but you could get caught out insurance wise if anything happens while you're towing...

That is correct, there are the towbars for the normal fabia available. Its just a case of insurance when towing.

would this apply if for example you had a tow bar mounted cycle carrier?

I'd say ask your insurance people if in any doubt. I suppose there's also the possiblity that you may cause more damage to someone or something if you reversed into them with a towbar fitted too!

Also, cant pull much weight, would lift front wheels up too much and spinn all the time!

We have a furby vrs - remapped to 185 with a tow bar - tows no problem

The car spins the wheels without a trailer but does not spin more with a trailer.

I would not expect it to either, not with a great big pile of cast iron under the bonnet:( - I can't see why it is not homologated - rear bumper maybe?

I have a trainer tent for sale if I can't tow it!

PM me, its a nice four berth!

(as opposed to a four year old thread, which I get off on!;))

And after you have sorted out the towbar problem, you will have to have a trailer with brakes ! (anything over 750Kgs needs brakes)

If you get pulled by the police or VOSA towing a trailer with a vRS they might check the plated weight of the trailer, weigh the trailer and check the towing capacity of the car.

If the weight of the trailer exceeds the towing capacity of the car you will be prosecuted.

As the towing capacity of the vRS is 0 the minute you stick a trailer on the back you risk prosecution. Effectively you are overloading the vehicle, by carrying a load which it is not type approved for.

Really frustrating for me as I teach trailer towing and use a vRS for teaching learners, so I had to stick the tow bar on another car. Pointless considering the vRS would be ideal ( if illegal), but I have to go the VOSA LGV test centre for trailer driving tests, so I'd be taken out the back and shot if I turned up in an illegal rig.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but does anyone know where you could get the Fabia vRS tested for towing, as I need to tow, and if I cant tow, the the car's gota go! Which I dont want as Ive bought a load of bits for it, (although, they'd all fit another TDi).

Don't think it works like that. You could check the DOT site but I think your going to be dissapointed.
