vRS silver center console surround in an Elegance?

Featured Replies

Next week I'll take delivery of an Octavia Elegance 2.0L FSI. I love the car, but I find the interior to be a little drab. I notice that the plastic surrounding the air con and the stereo in the RS is silver coloured, and thought that might liven up the interior in the Elegance a little bit.

Just wondering if anyone has replaced this part in an Elegance, or if it's even physically possible? They seem to be the same shape, but I wasn't sure if it was a panel that is simple to remove. Even if it can be removed easily, is there somewhere I could source an RS panel from? I'm from Australia, so I'd guess I'd have to source it from overseas.

Thanks.

There is a Briskodian got one for sale in the "Items for sale" section and its the VRS Silver one:thumbup:

Thanks! From the picture I guess it doesn't look too hard to install. I don't suppose there are any guides floating around for it though? I've never done this sort of thing before.

superskoda.com has a few interior dress-up bits that are stick-on, if that helps....

It does help. It looks like they only have these in LHD though. I wonder how different it could be to RHD.

You can swap the black parts for the silver no problem, although to be honest your best bet would be a can of Silver paint. I think a couple of people have used ilver paint which I think is all they use on the factory ones anyway.

Agree with what vrstu said.

Get yourself some form of trim removal tool (dont use a screwdriver ! ) The centre panel unclips pretty easily (see vrStu's site for details of where the clips are) give the panel a good clean and allow to dry, then spay with a decent silver paint taking it slow and easy. I had to respray mine when I installed my DVD player, and you cant tell the difference.

Couple of pics here will give you the idea

I bought the trim piece from the dealer, already painted. It doesnt cost that much and look at stu's website will yield the required part number.

Thanks guys. I think I'll see how much Skoda Australia will charge for the part so it's easier to change back if I mess it up or in case I (or more likely the wife ;)) don't like it. That DVD player setup does look quite nice though.
