Car valeted after service and one god awful stink!

Featured Replies

Had the car serviced at Loders [Yeovil] and when I jumped back in there was a god awful stench which smelt like old aftershave and was so strong my eyes were watering.

Anyone else had this? What's the best way of stripping the stink? It seriously smelt like some cheap aftershave they'd bought in the 70's and only just found. God knows what I'd done to upset the dealer!

Sure it wasn't a glue or sealant.

I'd just leave the car with the windows slightly down and the sunroof popped up if you have a place you can do that.

Just make sure you press the lock button twice and turn off interior monitoring when you lock it.

A quick fix is autoglym autofresh which you can pick up in halfords for £4.99 for a 500ml spray bottle.

I'd get on the phone and ask the dealer :)

good advice, get them to do a proper valet as they've clearly balls it up by the smell of it!

get onto the dealers and kick up a stink (no pun intended) ;)

Doesn't appear to be, stink has subsided now but haven't driven the car for a couple of days.

Already done that, ensured they raised it with their detailer and that he didn't bring it within 100 yards of the new one :)
