Induction kit and Dump Valve??

Featured Replies

Just thinking about puttin an induction kit and dump valve onto my 04 Octy vrs. I have an induction kit from my previous car (Honda Civic)... with a bit of altering i think it'll work on the octy. Anybody have any advice for me on this would be very greatful plus it'll save a few pound!!:) Also Dump Valves... which is the best? Baileys?

If you can get the kit to fit, why not use it? There are so many different types anyway, just make sure you sort something out regarding airflow to the filter.

Baileys? No thanks, but I'll take a Guinness. :)

Airflow to the filter? Do you mean the position of the filter in the engine bay? it has a connection for the oil filter so should work?

Additional pipes (if required) to get cold air to the filter. Most of the shorter type of filters (that don't relocate the filter in the bottom of the bumper) have 'surrounds' that prevent heat soak in the engine compartment. I'd assume that you are planning on pretty much fixing the filter to the MAF?

I have a stainless still pipe that will hopefully connect easily and if need be buy an extension pipe to leave the filter low behind the front bumper.. Any advice about the dump valve? Is there plenty of grunt from the induction kit?? would love to hear a sample sound!! Was nice when it was on the vTec.. Cheers Bud!!

Most people on here seem to have Forge dump valves. Because the engine uses a re-circulating dump valve as standard replacing it with one that dumps to the atmosphere will cause the engine management light to come on.

The two options from Forge are the 007p which is basically a replacement re-circulating valve, or the Split-R which dumps half to atmosphere and half back into the air inlet so is still partly recirculating.

The induction kit will let you hear the dump valve noise more clearly because you will be able to hear the excess pressure being released back into the air inlet that you can hardly hear with the standard airbox on. People with the Carbonio kit seem to hear their dump valves louder than with other CAI kits.

If you are fitting an aftermarket dump valve you might also want to consider relocating it to the cold side (between the intercooler and the intake manifold) otherwise it gets quite warm if positioned at the back of the engine right near the turbo:

I have a forge 007 and a carbonio, Great sucky noise and a DIVERTER VALVE (Not Dump Valve) noise.
