OCTAVIA RS IN GREECE WITH ABT(210hp)

Featured Replies

MY APOLOGY FOR ENGLISH GEJA YOUR FRIENDS FROM GREECE. I AM CANDIDATE PURCHASER OF OCTAVIA RS (WITH CHIP ABT 210HP) EIMAI FAST HEAD OF THE FAMILY WITH TWO CHILDREN AND WOULD WANT YOUR OPINION FOR THE CAR. thanks

Hey, go for it, the Abt tune up is good enough, considering it comes with factory warranty. So for the price it's definitely worth it. Which part of Greece are you from? Which dealer is in your area?

Oh and please dont use caps, it's like yelling :D

Greetings....

The car is very suited to the "family man". The car can be driven "normally" as a more conventional saloon with comfort and safety. With 2 children any Octavia (inc 4x4 and estate :D ) will have enough room in the back for them. The boot/hatch area is very large and will cope very well for all the kit thats needed to be transported for the children and the wife. As a plus point you have a car with an engine that will also be capable of giving an exillarating sporty drive.

John

True, the car's performance is also very very usefull in the greek mountaineous and narrow roads, as it's extremely easy (and safe) to overtake with minimum exposure. To add to the above, I'd think the 4x4 estate (with the added Abt tune up) suits best the greek road quality, and generally the added space (or should I say functionality) of the combi and height of the 4x4 should be less troublesome than the lowered RS. But I guess it's a matter of personal choice :)

Oh, make sure you book a test drive of the car before buying.

Keep us posted :D

I THANK ALL THE FRIENDS THAT ME ANSWERED THE 4CH4 HAVE SURE MORE WELL KRATIMATA BUT ARE VERY POOR IN THE EQUIPMENT COMPARED TO THE RS. FROM NOISE IN INTERNAL THAT THEY IS THE RS? IN GREECE ARMING DEALER THEY IS the VJAMAR. ARMING ENGINE WITH AVT SYSTEM THEY IS RELIABLE FOR ENOUGH HRONNJA. I CHANGE CAR EACH 7-8 YEARS ROUGHLY.

In the UK the 4X4 has a better specification than the vRS - excluding the extra 30bhp, 17" wheels, front and rear plastic bits (including spoiler), part leather seats, and leather gear knob the vRS has. The 4X4's extras are much more useful and include electrically operated sunroof, headlight washer system, ESP, central front arm rest, front seat side air bags, and twin rear reading lights. :D

the 4x4 has 30 more bhp? i thought the 4x4 is 150bhp?

Yes, the 4X4 has 150bhp and it is the vRS which has an extra 30bhp over that...

I see now that the official Skoda Options list gives you the choice of mounting the spare wheel onto the bonnet of the 4x4 ;)

Mesh covered headlights and Bull bars are still a definite no no though !

Very funny. Serious 4X4 owners will of course know that the off-road pack includes a cage mounted on the roof bars which takes 4 full size spares and sand tracks, plus petrol and water jerrycan mountings at the rear. For vRS owners the same pack consists of a flexible plastic sump pan, 5 litres of oil, a bottle of Wynns petrol octane enhancer, and a 6 pack of Fosters (or optionally a bottle of Liebfraumilch and a plastic beaker). :D

Here in Greece, the 4x4 comes with 193bhp (Abt) which compared to the 180bhp of the standard RS and the extra's, make it a great option. Too bad the RS comes with 210bhp (again Abt) to make the choice hard.

Still for GR with it's peculiarities I believe the 4x4 is a better choice.

As far as the dealer is concerned, BIAMAR is the importer but not the sole dealer. I personally bought my 4x4 Abt from them but cannot really recommend them.

For one I had a 3 month wait and they never gave me a notice as to when the car would be here. One fine morning the called me and put me into immediate dept of 28K Euros. I therefore had to leave the car waiting another 3 weeks until I was able to arrange payment.

Add to that the fact that the car was extremely dirty: apparently the lad who did the final check did not bother to wash his hands and oily fingerprints were all over the interior.

Needless to mention that after I paid cash for the car they denied to give a gift worth 40 Euros (the non 4x4 gear knob).

What finally did it was the "craftsmanship" of the lad who installed the alarm. He used a 13mm bit to drill through the unused plastic cover (between the ESP and petrol cap buttons) to install the LED, leaving a huge and rough hole around it. Terrible. Needless to say he had also scratched the cover of the dashboard. When I complained to the salesman, his comment was "come on, it's no big deal" but he replaced both parts after I refuse to collect. Needless to say I took the LED installation for homework ;)

By the way, their ISO9002 is only valid for the sales dept, not service!

So beware and avoid them.

RS ABT FINALLY a RIGHT CHOICE FOR a FAST FAMILY MEN THAT CHANGES CAR EACH 7-8 YEARS (Reliability-damage)?

Ah yes the RS for the more demanding driver. I see you did not get conned into buying a lesser model with cheap and tacky extra's like some I could mention. Still you made the right choice. ;)
