Should I or Shouldn't I???

Featured Replies

I am in a quandrie about trading my O2 vrs in for a Focus ST-3 07 plate, but the 3 stealers are all giving me £3600-4000 in a trade in on £14500 car but i think my car on private sale would fetch 5.5k ish but dont have long to decide on what way to go (put deposit down yesterday and supposed to complete the deal on thursday).

The car I've seen is £16,495 and I've got him down to £11k to change with my Octavia in part ex. Some advise is required please cause i'm doing my nut in over the prospect of spending an xtra grand or so that the trade in wont bring.

The only thing wrong with my car is that the drivers door doesn't open by remote everything else is nearly new in the last year All suspension (koni/whiteline) brakes etc. There's been a lot of mods done to the Octavia so may take longer to sell to get that 'one' person come along and appreciate what I've done.

I appreciate I'm looking to move from Skoda to Ford, please can you let me have your thoughts on price rather than manufacturer as most other car dealers are coming back with the same figures on different cars

Whats the mileage on your car?

Average mileage on your car will get you roughly £4-4.5k

If you take £1k off screen price off the ST maybe £1.5k then your getting around market valve for yours.

can you not return it back to standard then sell of the parts to make the money back or is that an added hassle?

Car has covered 48k miles from new, full service history with all receipts including mods. No matter what way I seem to look at it, whether the screen price is £14,995 or £16,495 the price to change is the same. The dealers seem to manipulate the figures to look how they want

I sold most of the standard parts and other stuff thats fitted is too much hassle ie-forge intake hose and 3"cat etc.

It all depends how quickly you would like a ST?

If you're prepared to wait a while till you sell yours then you could be better off but you will need to shift yours or find the extra and have 2 cars for a time.

If you think your getting a good ST for the money then go for it.

the car I've seen is immaculate and in Silver so looks really good, seemed fantastic deal at the time, but I'm sure everyone always reflects on each situation after the decision has been made. Just don't want to lose out or be left with the car and end up having to take less to sell private than I would have achieved trading it in, this happened to my GF on her last car. We thought we could do better and ended up letting it go for less to get shot of it before we had to pay for the new car.

you just have to way the situation up, you could hold off wait until the skoda is sold but who knows when that will be really like you say its waiting on the right person to come along and buy it, and if its a good deal now you might not get it again in the future if you do hold off, from what i can tell your getting the st pretty cheap after trade in so its not going to be that much of a loss plus if you sell privatley you will have to deal with all the calls and the people who never turn up and all the rest of it when you trade in just hand the keys and wave goodbye you dont even need to clean it!!! id trade in if the st's what you really want then a few quid of a loss is better than a few weeks of car selling hassle.....imo:O
