Ello!

Featured Replies

I have used this site for tips before which has been great but first time to post...

I have a Fabia 1.4 mpi, love it cant wait for upgrade but in mean time i have had this prob for a while...

Keeps staling, warm and cold, engine doesnt tick over smoothly, i am fed up of going back and forth to garage to figure out what it is.

There is no warning light, the garage suspect mass air filter after replacing a split pipe and reseting so am looking into getting this replaced as well.

Can anyone advise me on whether i should get approved skoda part or not and how much i should expect to pay to get it fixed. or is this something that can be done at home?

any input gratefully received...

Thank you!

Ello...Welcome to Briskoda!...I hope we can be of help to you...

welcome along to briskoda.

First, welcome to Briskoda! :wavey:

Second, your car doesn't have a Mass Air Flow (MAF) meter, so it's not that!

Initial guess is that the throttle body needs resetting. A garage can do this with their diagnostics tool, although rumour has it that turning the key in the ignition just one click (so that the lights on the dash all come on, but the engine doesn't start) and then leaving it like that for a couple of minutes will restore the default settings which may be enough to get your car running satisfactorily. Although that might also be a load of guff! :D

Otherwise, do you sometimes notice that the temperature gauge sometimes stays stuck to the left? If so, it's the coolant temperature sensor that's playing up. I did a DIY guide here, and it's dead easy to do...

Hiya.

Right back to basics. It the throttle cable tension correct (slightly loose at idle)? That can mess up the running of anything if it's just fractionally too tight. Been there, done that...

Well, after another visit to the garage and a replaced alternator belt, we are stil none the wiser! I have asked them to check all the areas you all suggested but no probs there. The diagnostic came up with no fault code and no warning light showing...We have decided to change the Mass Air Sensor anyway as ran out of options now...will let you know if that sorts it out.

Thanks for all your support...fingers crossed!
