help please, 2005 octavia II amplifier under passenger seat.

Featured Replies

hi, my octavia II combi 4x4 is in france. but right now i am in the usa visiting family.

while here i am picking up some audio gear. prices are pretty good here.

i might mention that i have had big multi amp/processor 8 channel extreme car audio set ups before, this time i just want a basic upgrade. something that is listenable. the oem stuff is pretty distorted, i think.

i must say that this site has been very helpful for me in terms of figuring out what to buy while i am in the us. thank you all for that.

one question that i need help on is this;

how big is the space under the passenger seat. i want to put a power amplifier there, bolted to the floor. most likely i will remove the sliding box, and then utilize the remaining space to mount the power amplifier.

i want to buy something that will fit, even if the seat gets moved around on the tracks. second choice is putting something in one of the back storage spaces.

so if anyone out there could take a look and shoot me the approximate dimensions of the potential space down there, i would be greatly appreciative.

also i am aware that right now there are not perfect ipod integration options.

i do have a kensington fm transmitter that does send track and artist/name information to the basic 2005 model non mp3 'stream' head unit that i have. so the display shows that information which is kind of nice.

obviously i would like to have a hardwire adapter that integrates well with the 2005 'stream' head unit, for better sound quality.

if anyone is aware of a good hardwire adapter that goes into the cd changer socket, or whatever, but also has display integration, etc, please pass that info along. i have been searching the volkswagen adapters available here, but i am not exactly sure about cross adaptability with the 2005 'stream' head unit in regards to various volkswagen years and models.

so if anyone knows the definitive beta on that, thanks again.

well, thanks for reading this far, and have a nice day out there in skoda land.

-- for those who are interested, this is what i plan to put in the combi; alpine plt-5 subwoofer/amp, infinity kappa 60.7 cs speakers, and pyle plad 212 amp. with wires that all costs less than 500usd. plus tax (the alpine is getting discontinued). -yes i am getting a high/low voltage low/high impedance adapter for the amp inputs.

okay, thanks again.
