Nappa or not ?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm pretty convinced to get a leather refit at Seat Surgeons.

Difficult decision - they have a special offer on nappa leather at only £20 extra compared to the usual. It's £800 for nappa (usually £995) , £780 for "standard" leather.

Thoughts ? Is nappa that much better ? What's it wear like ?

Thanks

Rick

Nappa is softer, for £20 I'd go for it!

It deffo looks better, but as far as I know it's a lot harder for maintenance. :) I'd say go for it, but not in the brightest colors. It would look stunning.

Thanks for the thoughts ...

My plan is that if I do this I'm going to keep the car another 4 years. So the improvement in comfort/luxury is a key factor.

My car is silver and I'm a bit of a bore when it comes to colours, so I think I'll go for the nappa in mid-grey with contrasting stiching.

Can't wait

Has anyone got a picture of a Fabia with grey leather inside?? When I get my vRS I plan on doing eactly the same as the original poster...

I would go for nappa

Im going a porsche red :)

No vrs badges just red all the way

I was fancying red as well, post some pics up when you get it done mate.

I like the idea of red inside of a black car, would be cool. Not sure it'll work with silver though.

Back to my original post, does anyone know if nappa wears well ? Would be a shame if it got shabby like the original seats !

I had a leather/alcantara done to my old mk2 Golf at MJ Interiors, one of the well known trimmers on the VW circuit, and asked him about Nappa. He rated it and pointed out that most of the luxury cars now are fitted with Nappa so it can't wear that bad. I was only put off by the cost, if you can get it for an extra £20 I'd go for it. Just make sure you use some good leather conditioner on it regularly and you should be ok.

No, but it can easily get damaged by big jeans' kn0bs and sort of stuff. And as I said above, gets dirty if a light color.

Mine is Transcal black but is more like dark grey.

See "Ming's Fabia vRS" in members' cars - currently on page 3.

Just had my wife's car re trimmed at seat surgeon's today, Have to say what great service we recieved and we are both made up with the trim and the quality of the fitting. Thanks to Paul the MD of the company for all the help today you are a Gent mate. If you are thinking of getting your fabia re done in Nappa leather or normal leather use these guys you will deffo not be disapointed.

OK, I have the samples now

But .. I'm now thinking red !

Going to do some photoshops to see how it looks before I decide !

Any chance you could post the photoshops up, I know I want some shade of red, but until I've seen another one with it I think I'll bottle it and go for black like 99% of others on here.

Defo go for the red.

Red nappa and a silver exterior has to be a winner, ihmo...

You'll have to get the door cards done too...

Just my 2 penneth, the normal SS leather (which I have) does soften over time but starts off quite stiff. Thie means you don't sink into the seats as much as with cloth and they don't hug you quite as well, but it makes them quite durable. The drivers seat does take some hammer and mine is showing its usage through the usual lines appearing in the material and it going shiny a lot (regular care sorts this).

Nappa on the other hand starts off very soft and your seats will allow you to sink into them a bit more offering more lateral grip. But, I feel they may not be quite as resistant to wear and tear.

Interesting, that's what I was thinking

Much bigger choice of colours in the standard leather too

Will take some pics and spend some time on the photoshop project tonight (actually I'll get my son to have a go ;) )

^ ^ ^ I love it!!! I think it would work best if the car's exterior is red as well. Has anyone had similar but in blue instead (or is someone a dab hand at photoshop ;))

here ya go, not perfect cos i only did it quickly, but you get the idea.

Sorry, never got round to doing the photoshops !

However, booked in for the end of the month, similar colours to the original seats, silver body, navy centres. But I am going for silver on the door panels.

Can't wait ...
