Noisy Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have never owned a desial before i brought my Fabia vRS.

I was getting a very loud sound when at high speed (starts at around 60mph). I noticed my engine cover was lose.

That has been sorted but its very noisy.

Has anyone else have thsi problem?

I think that the VRS is noisy anyhow, I have had lots of diesels over the years and my Fabia Vrs is the worst so far.

It still gives me the bigest grins.

Quite the reverse; if not for tyre roar, my Octy would be the quietest car I've ever owned (and with a Xantia to compete with, it needs to go some there).

Can't say I find it noisy at all - suspect you may have a problem.

What sort of noise are you referring to - engine noise, transmission or suspension rattling, growl from engine / what............. and at what speeds ?

I would say it was an engine noise. It starts at around 40-45 and when sitting at about 60 its very loud. Brought it in Jan this year from Trans City Skoda and they done a full service so i was hoping they would have spoted any problems.

What sort of noise is it? A rattle, a roar, a whine, something else?

Is it related to road speed or engine speed?

To be honest - if you have a year's warranty with the dealer I should take it back straight away (particularly on safety grounds) and have someone sit in the car while you drive it - or let them road test it.

The Fabia should be super smooth sounding at those speeds with only the faintest of noises (save for a little tyre noise - tyre dependent). It really is a superb motorway cruiser, for example.

Mine is currently very noisy as I have four non-round tyres! Seriously - the backs are extremely non-round and the fronts are a little bit non-round. The rears are the original Bridgestones with almost 60K miles on them, and still about 3mm of tread. The fronts are Continental's that were fitted at 35,000 miles. SUK won't replace the tyres on the service plan as they are not illegal, so they're staying on until I wear them out unfortunately.

They make a drumming noise that is discernable from about 40mph that hits a crescendo at about 70mph. Before the tyres went off the car was extremely quiet on the motorway.
