Toms 98S Ford Mondeo V6 Ghia-X

Featured Replies

looking good. Shame you have to sell the vrs but I've always loved the sound of a V6 more than a turbo. Just wish I could have a v6.

Thats cleaned up really well, and seems in excellent condition for the price you paid for it.

Car is now faultless!!! :)

The airbag light was simply a case of unplugging and replugging in the pretensioner wiring under the seats! :) The coolant level sensor just needed a good clean to get rid of that light too!!! :)

So now I have no warning lights, and its running just peachy.

28.4mpg on the last tank of fuel, thats a lot of hooning about and testing the IMRC etc, so hoping for over 32mpg long term! :)

Good luck with it mate

I only chose a red Octy2 vRS because of your Photos

Hope you clear up those debts fast man

Thats came up great Tom.

Its only a stop-gap until I'm debt free though ;)

At which point the mondeo will be up for sale and a huge loan will be taken out.

Two months later the new car will be up for sale and another cheap shed purchased.

Two months later the cheap shed will be up for sale and another expensive car will arrive............

Or am I reading too much into this?

 Cheeky fecker!!!

Yes Alex, you are reading too much into it. HTH.

I quite object to my immaculate V6 Mondeo being called a shed too ;)

Oooh, I do have a black bodywork sticker I could put on... :rubchin:

Tom - In my garage I have a pair of Kenwood HQ570's which I PM'd you about. They are direct replacement speakers.

They are yours for the postage.

oh dear, how long until you buy and sell a focus st, astra vxr and a monaro all with cheapo cars in between?

Seriously though tom either don't buy the cars or wait till you can afford them as surely your only making the money situation worse by chopping and changing all the time as you'll be losing money on every car.

nah, it was the octavia that had the gash vinyl stuck on it. besides which, he sobered up and took that **** off:confused:

whilst i'm not super keen on the looks of the mondeo, at £770 and in basically mint condition you can't really complain

Looks like a decent buy - hope it serves you well

Bet you wish it was just a touch younger on a T-plate though! :P

T5 would get my vote ! :)

Hows the Mondeo coming along Tom ?

I'm liking that Jeep :o

If that 525 wasn't in red, that would have got my vote...

Cheers Steve! :) In a way I'm glad its not on a T, that plate costs me a fortune!!! :P

And Mr Makefish, I get your point, but I still think its pretty much unbeatable for a reliable, cheap/easy to maintain car that should do me proud for a few months :)

Quick update - its now got its spoiler and new rear plates on. New alternator going on tomorrow. New plate on the front to smarten things up a bit as well.

And a quick piccy next to the vRS, which went yesterday :(.

I've also bought an exhaust trim, but haven't had a chance to fit that yet. Just fits over the standard pipe, but its nice and shiny.

EDIT - just to add. I've also fitted a replacement water pump and thermostat, and flushed the cooling system for good measure. The old parts were fine, but for £60 all in (including the coolant) its good preventative maintenance, as these V6s are very fussy with their cooling. :)

Its also had new mats and wiper blades.
