Felicia ignition switch bypass

Featured Replies

Hi, I recently had a problem with my ignition switch whereby it failed to get to the "ignition on" position (eventually persuaded to by the breakdown mechanic!) - in case this happens again I would like to fit a "hidden" by-pass switch for the ignition circuit. Can anyone help with the connections required and where I may pick these up from? - John.

It could well be the common Felicia ignition barrel showing the first signs of jamming up. If it jams, no amount of re-wiring will help as you won't be able to disengage the steering lock. If it is just the electrical switch part of the barrel, it would be less work just to replace this.

Get the lock checked out before it strands you somewhere.

The first part of the turn that disengages the steering lock shows no problems and the car has already been fitted with a push start button so if I knew where to connect an ignition bypass I would feel safer about getting stranded. - John.

IMHO i wouldnt p1ss about, i would just fit a new ignition lock. If you are asking how to do it on here you obviously are not competant (no offence) and could end up with a burn out on the drive or no car at all if some twocer finds the switch

I know "What" I want to do, I just need help with the "How". I was recommended this forum as a friendly place for technical help, maybe I need to look somewhere else.

You've got 2 qualified motor mechanics (Fordfan and Rigsby) telling you to replace the lock. Friends sometimes tell you things you don't want to hear, if it's the best advice for the situation you're in.

Replace the lock...thats 3 but im not a mechanic.
