OEM - Forge Diverter Valves - ECS Blow Off Valve

Featured Replies

I've got the 007P.....don't think any 'vent to air' type valves are any good with the 1.8T. Although it has been known for me to be wrong once in a while!!! :D

hmmm.....

I tried with venting to atmosphere and all i got was a bit of noise and no turbo boost!

The only production car i know that can vent to atmosphere and recirculate is the Toyota MR2 Turbo. I think it has something called a MAP sensor which allows this. The reason i know this is cos my mate has one and its f00kin loud!!! 313BHP with a remap and de-cat.

Tho if anyone knows better than feel free to enlighten! :)

The HKS SS DV is about the only semi-vent to atmos i think works on a 1.8T but it's well expensive and i've not tried it personally. The others just dont work - been there and tried it :D

Before Adrian + Des start:

...and they dont even work when fitted the right way round ;)

The diverter valve (DV) is a pathway for boost when it is not being used by your engine. Whenever the throttle body is closed, like during shifts or deceleration, the boost needs an escape route. If the boost cannot escape during these times, it can back up and cause shocks to the turbo. A Blow Off Valve (BOV) perfroms the same task as a DV, but instead of returning the boosted air back into the intake, it vents it the the atmosphere. ECS HKS BOV kits will not cause check engine light on your 1.8T vehicle.

Surely venting into the atmosphere instead of the airbox/intake will cause richness in the air/fuel ratio because the ECU doesn't recalculate the recirculating air?

Trust me - vent to atmos DVs do not work on the Octy. You might as well get an induction kit such as ABD from Impossible if you just want the noise - it will give you the noises you are looking for and it works (you can even keep your std dv)

Yes it does - but the 1.8t ecu will put the engine into limp mode so quickly you wouldn't even notice.

 is what your taking about above the same as a baliys dump vavle??

i just install a non recirclating DV to my octy, havn't noticed any diffrence in performace just the noise it makes... PPPSSSHHHHTTT

DVs - including the Bailey - are OK.

As long as it's a DV03.....or is that DV30 :o ?

uuuummmm is there a diffrence i just ordered on from demon tweeks as long as it made the noise i was happy

Ah...but it's not all about noise is it.

1.8T requires a DV with the excess boost being vented back into the airbox.

A atmospheric valve or BOV vent into the atmosphere.

We've had lots of examples of peeps trying to put BOVs on to the 1.8T and finding that it doesn't work.

Engine not designed for a BOV so why use one?

Can you find out the number of the Bailey you got?

I've had the HKS SSQV blow-off on my 1.8T Leon for ages with no ill effects whatsoever, a few others also have the HKS, the Forge FMDV004 and the Greddy Type-S with no running issues at all. I've never had a single limp mode, stalling, CEL anything, my air/fuel ratio has been checked and it's fine too.

It is a myth that the VAG 1.8T cannot run a blow-off valve.

my DV looking at the paper work is a Bailey DV26 'EVO' dump valve

Evo twin piston dump valve 'rebulidable'

and its mouned in the big pipe that goes from teh intercooler to the throttle body behind the drivers side head light, i had to remove the OE DV and block up teh pipes...

hope ive not made a boob here....im such a newbie and just took the guys advise form demon tweeks seemed to knwo what he was on about..and tehy have a good rep

IIRC, Chris Yeo has one of these and it took him a little while to sort it out but seems to be running ok now.

So...you may just be ok on this one. ;)
