Knocking/vibration Noise from Gearbox?

Featured Replies

I got my Cambelt changed a few months ago and whilst it was in there they found a strange noise coming from around the Gearbox area, and some how they have narrowed it down to the flywheel. Anyway its got worse since then, can hear it on tick over and when slowing down, but its ok when clutch is pressed. There seems to be nothing wrong with the gearbox or Cluctch (no slipping, smooth changes).

just wandered if anyone else has had this as ive been told they will have to take my engine out to get to it to investigate the noise and when they find it, it might not be covered by warranty.

Its hard to explain but its sort of a Grinding noise.

Thanks.

If i had a fiver on a bet, i would say the clutch giving up the ghost. If you are high mileage or remapped get it checked out, although early clutch failure is possible.

Lot cheaper than the flywheel.;)

Good Luck.

Hmm when my clutch went there was no noises previously...

Just started slipping one day in 5th and 6th then got a bit worse so i got pee'd off gave it the beans and it went POP lol...

My clutch makes a wierd sound whenits depressed and also when it's moving through it's travel, once released it is fine.

The sound is like an amplification of the usual diesel clatter, subtle but it exists.

I had it checked at the dealers and they said it was fine. Does anyone else have the same?

I have the same. Brand new from day one. Changed the clutch in my other car (diesel) and exactly the same. Nowt to worry about.

Thats a relief, thought it was tatered - just DMF rattle?

right they told me the flywheel was faulty, and that it affected the clutch, so iv had both a new clutch and flywheel replaced all under warranty, noise gone now im a happy owner again :D

the bill would of been just over £1000 if it wasnt under warranty :D

Time for a Remap then? :P
