something abit different 56K no way!

Featured Replies

yes its only a 1.4mpi, but its surprising ive upgraded from the standard 14inch wheels 165/70/14 to 195/45/15 by using golf mk4/5 steels, and the amount of people that have seen my car and gone "dan why have you taken off the wheel trims"! just makes me laugh, they dont see the nice wide wheels

its slowed it down very slightly and made the powersteering more heavy but i expected that, no scrubbing as of such and thats with a offset of et32, just sit right in the arches. i will get some alloys eventually and lowering springs, this will keep me happy for now. The golf steels cost me £20 and putting my old tyres my ford mondeo alloys to steels cost £30

Pictures were taken on sunday just before i went to work, nice and sunny lincolnshire!:P

£50 in all

Enjoy

Dan why have you taken off the wheel trims!!!!! :D:D:D:D

Sorry couldn't resist. :D:D:D

Do you plan to keep it that way or invest in some alloys???? Think i'd go for alloys myself.

Cheers

Dave.

lol

yeah ive got some idea of alloys im thinking 16 inch max, maybe get them just after i lower it, i like the fact the stock rear mudflaps hide the width so it still sorta looks like its standard with 165, must get people when they dont see any brake lights and my car just magically grips round the corners

You could always paint them white!

You could always paint them white!

Fabia Rally:thumbup:

It does look like you parked in a rough area and had the wheel trims nicked.....

White steel wheels can look ok , but I'm not sure how well it would work on a blue car

get them banded! Made really wide! Strech some tyres and slam! Sorted!

Your Joking aren't you? Solid Blue, Red or White are THE colors to have white steels on! ala Pug 106 Rallye!

I love these steels.. the more I look at them the more I wanna do the same (but get them painted white.. or biscuit / cream to match my interior).. then paint the egine cover in the same paint! Yum!

You actually wanted bare wheel trims?! Unique I guess.

i reckon im just going to lower it next and then ill get some tidy alloys, it should do for now :)

The white wheels on the vw look odd almost as if the wheels are too wide for the tyres. Bet it corners well though.

The steels on the fabia look good, fills the arches much better than standard. Personally I'd nip along to my local motor factors and pick up a set of cheap wheel trims, just to tidy it up for now. Nice too see a standard motor being modded though, seems everyone's always talking vrs around here nowadays, us mere mortals are left floundering.

Careful if you plan on increasing the unsprung weight on the car. It's one of the biggest killers of performance. I went from 15" ally's to 17" ones on one of my BMW's (320i 24v) and it felt like a slug. Had to change back as it was god awful.

Can't imagine what it would've been like with a smaller engined model.

Yup, its called 'stretch'

And when they stick out of the arch it's 'poke'

Stretch and poke, its way of life.

Going to get these badboys banded too.

These are 16" though, not 15's.

I think stretching looks silly.

But then I am old and resurrect 4 year old threads, so what do I know eh?

Well done Holland.

ahh i thought it looked very low, i was curious about the tyre size as ive been looking at montreal 2 that fit, they just flush well with the car that was all

thanks again:thumbup:

So what's the max a Fabia can come down by just changing to lowering springs, without altogether ridding of them and riding on the bumpstops? :)

lowest i think you can go is 40mm and thats with koni but really different dampers should be used, most kits are 35mm or 30mm would be the safest bet, im going to get some weitec springs they lower the front 35mm and the back 30mm so it sits the car just right.

My tyres are 205/45R16's

Just a bit wider that your MK4 Golf ones!

i thought they would be somewhere around there thanks for that, im thinking of getting 16s yet, but im still itching as i love some 18s at the moment i know it would slow it down but would be worth it in looks alone
