Hi Everyone,

Long time Lurker but first time poster here.

I've had my bought from new 1.9 TDI DSG for 2 years now and use it for Taxi work here on Guernsey. I'm very happy with the car, it has now done 60,000 miles and I get 41 mpg which is very good by local standards as our driving is constant stop-start and the Island speed limit is 35mph.

I've just had my 60,000 mile service during which the flywheel was replaced as it was making a loud rattle type noise. The garage tell me that the replacement is a revised part and that they therefore hope that it won't "go" again.

I've just had my bill for the service and this is where I could do with some help. The bill is £406.09 (we don't have VAT here).

The work completed is listed as having replaced gear oil and gear oil filter and also changed the brake fluid. My service book lists the gear oil change as being at 40,000 miles and the brake fluid being every 2 years. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? If it is the garage seem to have done the brakes at the right time but the gearbox oil 20,000 miles late!

Also, amongst the parts that I have been charged for are four filters which are listed as follow;

02E305051C Filter

071115562A Oil Filter

1K0129620D Filterelem

1K0819644B Filterelem

Now, I understand that one will be the engine oil filter, one the gearbox oil filter and the third an air filter, but what is the fourth filter? - Fuel maybe?

Thanks,

Humbug

welcome along!!

Welcome to Briskoda - don't have the knowledge on the DSG to help, but I'm sure someone will be along to help you soon!

Hello and welcome to briskoda

Hiya.

I can't help directly, but I would want the oil and filter changed when the box was coming out anyway. Check whether or not it was done at the 40_000 service.

The other filter may be the pollen filter.

How do you find the DSG? I want one next time.

Ken, just checked 40,000 service bill which has four filters listed again,

071115562A

1K0129620D

1K2819653A

3C0127434

2 the same numbers as the 60,000 service and two different, no mention of gearbox oil change in the "work completed" section and no charge for any gearbox oil.

cjb, I'm very happy with the dsg, very smooth changes, you hardly notice them at all.

Welcome :)

I don't even know if there is an oil filter in the DSG; there isn't usually one in a manual box. I was just saying that I'd want the oil changing when the box was out anyway, whther it had been done when scheduled or not.

It seems that there is a filter in the DSG 'box as my "work completed" section states "Replaced gear oil and gear oil filter".

Thanks Ken, that makes sense that the oil and filter were changed whilst the 'box was out.

I just wanted some opinions on all the different filters before I speak to the garage about it. They're a good bunch there, one of the few single franchise, family run places that there are left. They always get me on the road ASAP knowing that my car is a taxi, they had the flywheel fitted the same day it arrived (although it took Skoda a week to get it to them once it had been ordered which I didn't think was very good).

Sorry, just realised that I should have said hello here and then post the question in the Octavia section so I'll just head over there and do that now, thanks.
