First, turn her down when she's talking, it took me ages to work out it's separate from the radio volume

That did the trick. Thanks for that. I was driving around with ear defenders on, like a poor relation of a rally driver:D

Glad to see another Radio 4 listener amonst us!

wja96 or Ross

Is it worth listing all the parts (inc part numbers and price) that would be needed to do this on this thread?

Also is there a separate aux input on the unit?

I wonder how compatible the iPod IceLink cable is with this little gadget - I'd be very interested if it showed exactly what your iPod was playing instead of just stupid track numbers I get at the moment.

The iPod unit will plug into the MFD but I wouldn't count on you getting any more functionality than the Symphony.

Thats abit of a kick in the teeth. I'm sure there was one set of head units that displayed what the iPod was playing using the IceLink, maybe that was on the BMW fleet.

In all fairness, and its personal preferance etc, but dont you find it a bit crap compaired to a TomTom?

The unit isnt bad, its the shat nav im on about

Another here!

I can really see the attraction though - when I was looking at nearly new vRS's I saw one with the MFD and the MaxiDot and it really transforms the inside of the car into a totally new league.

MFD DX is nowhere near that smart ..... it is about 3 generations out of date

Does postcode search work on all DX units? If so, how do I find it on one that's not doing it? I have one system that is, and one that's not. Is it a VAG Com job?

Mine has a partial postcode search - you enter it in the "Town" option - it only does the 1st digit of the 2nd half of the postcode.

So for example I can search for HR4 1 [Hereford] - it doesn't go to street level just the approximate area.

Yes, so does mine - but the guy just down the road has one too, and his doesn't - even with my disc in. In fact, it looks like his system isn't updating from my disc at all. I did a search and a few threads talk about a start-up disk, but they are usually very unhelpful and suggest that the pweson who started the thread uses the search feature. So I tried that, and nothing comes up. Any idea on start-up discs?

I have PDI'd many Skodas and Audis with MFD and all you get is the UK Nav Disc to start them up with.

Is that a Skoda/VW/Audi specific part or is it a Blaupunkt part?

I've been having a great time finding out all about the hidden menus but I can't seem to find out which is the latest Skoda DX firmware. Does March 24th 2003 ring any bells?
