Funny looks you get while driving.

Featured Replies

I always get funny looks whilst driving.

It can be anyone from;

pedestrians,

Cylists,

oncoming car drivers,

a driver that just pulled out on me,

or a car i pulled out on (which i never do):D

What are your experiences of people giving you evil's, or the eye ;) whlist driving your car?

Here's a few to start us off;

. I pulled out of a junction, my sound system at a respectable level, and this woman gave me such evil's, the kind of evil's you'd expect to get if I had just killed her entire family!

. Another young ish, passing skoda driver, waved and smiled at me in his Octy VRS.

. The police, OMG a young skoda driver, the look of shock on their face is priceless. AS do the general public too!

Yeah - happens.... Usually if I'm slightly enthusiastic on the loud pedal. My audio levels rarely turn heads as I just like it loud for me and no-one else. However, my exhaust? Well, whoever is in earshot when I want to drive how I feel I want to... Well, they're gonna get blasted. :D

i pulled up looking at some skodas on a forecourt once and mr plod came along... "is this your car sir?" I reply yes, its mine! he then said " oh a student with a 02 plate skoda eh" me and my mate was a bit baffled. he walked around the car and didnt ask anymore just got back in his car and carried on...

its the looks that people give when they've walked out infront of you and still give you evils like it was you who was in the wrong.

I dont think people like happy and cheeky drivers on the roads either! just a load of miserable looks even when you give way to them.

Should have said, "yeah it's mine, I nicked it last night" then see the reaction.... Actually, best not. ;)

and people who dont know what lane thir in on a round about without indicating and nearly taking off your front wing! a slight beep and there off on one! only lettingthem know theres a car aslo in the same lane...wich is ME!

Dirty looks for daring to overtake them when they're only doing about 2/3 of the speed limit, on an empty, straight and dry road.

I ensure I'm never going slow enough to be able to glance over at the person being overtaken. :D;)

You never check the rear mirrors to be sure it's safe to move back over, or does the Mongrel make "smoking them" more than usually literal?

Well, I do check, but I guess I can't make out the driver's facial expression by then. It's not usually smoke though. Having said that, I've had the odd flash of headlights which I put down to the noise my car makes when overtaking. They think it's anti-social, I think it's an essential side effect of a thorough, safe overtaking manouvere.

I agree about the "essential side effect" bit; when you have to overtake on single carriageway, do so in the minimum time.

In Prague (yes, the Czech capital) I had a Fabia combi packed with youngsters driving in front of me.

They pulled over and let me drive by.

Only so they could overtake me, stop at the next traffic lights in the lane beside me, open their windows to cheer and wave their fists with raised thumbs a a sign of approvement.

People do tend to notice my car, mostly because they just can't figure out what brand or model it is.

I once had some bloke waving at me to slow down as I drove through "his" villiage. Being as I wasn't speeding, I felt particularly offended so I stopped, reversed back, rolled down the window and politely asked the guy, "Can I help you?", to which he responded "er, er, um, er, you were speeding through my villiage", so I replied, "no I wasn't, you've just made that assumption as I'm a young lad in a bright yellow sporty looking car, would I be correct?" He then failed to reply and hurried off. Muppet

I 've had reactions from people wondering wether my car is/ or is not an unmarked policecar, hence not overtaking me.

I can imagine that the combination of my air-force uniform, the 7" video screen on the dash and the front-facing night vision camera attached at the rear-view-mirror might raise that question. :airjock:

I't wouldn't be the first time I hear the street my car is parked in, beeing mentionned on the radio as a location where speed checks are beeing held at the moment. :P

XD ahahahahahaa lol

Thats just what im talking about, niceyellow vrs!

Its idiots / busybodies like that who **** me off so much! gerr.

I got a lot questioning from the police when I owned the octavia vrs. Their excuse..... I was female and they didnt think it was mine! :(

I love the look of astonishment followed by semi-panic on the faces of repmobile drivers when they attempt to out-drag an oldish balding bloke in a silver Skoda away from the lights on a short section of dual carriageway that turns into single track after about 200 yards. (PE Way past the GCHQ junction for those local enough to know it)

The rear view mirror provides hours of fun

And...? There is no specific offence of or related to "driving a car you don't actually own".

I get funny looks all the time... I drive a van for work (network server engineer), its like "A woman? Driving a van? With computers in it?!"...

We're going through a merge with the biggest IT firm in Cumbria shortly, which will mean I will have a bigger van with even more computer crap written on it, so I expect even more funny looks!

Always amazes me when I'm on the motorway. Especially if I have a bit of weight in the boot and a passenger on board I can see them coming up behind with a reasonable speed difference, then all of a sudden they've slowed to the same speed as me. Get past you muppet, I'm not a police car. Works even better if I'm wearing a white t-shirt, and have my camera stuck on the dash....lol

I don't get very many funny looks in the Octy really, or at least I haven't noticed any yet! Used to get all kinds of abuse and funny looks etc when I had the Impreza though, people would look at me as if I'd come into their house on Christmas day and shat under their Xmas tree!

I do get lots of looks especially all those annoying tw*ts in Nissan Micras who i leave in a cloud of smoke behind:rofl: f*cking cars should be banned on public roads:finger:.

Its always annoying when iam trying to earn a living and some c***t wants to hold me up and play stupid in front of me when iam carrying passengers and they slam there brakes on for no reason and put us all in danger. So i blast them and the quickest convenient spot.

Yes and a quick note to Silver BMW 120D driver: You deserved it you retard and keep that slow car out of my way in future:rofl:

A convoy of 6 Swifts trundling through the Lakes got some strange looks
