Fabia 2 - Accelerator Pedal - On recall ?

Featured Replies

Read on here that a few folk had needed to have the accelerator potentiometer replaced on the 2007 Fabia and someone may have speculated that it was now a recall item.

Does anyone know if this is the case and whether it affects petrol or deisel?

Spoke to my local Skoda dealer who wasn't sure. Said he had replaced a few which had failed under waranty. Taking my car abroad for a few months so don't want any hassle.

Greatful if anyone associated with the trade knows?

Thanks.

I don't think it's a recall, I suspect they will continue to change them as required.

You'll be covered in the EU with Skoda Assist.

I will echo what Stu said.

We have done 2, out of all the cars we have sold etc.

Thank you both for the information, it is very reassuring. I'm sure it was a poster on here that had been told by a receptionist at a Skoda dealer that there was a recall.

Looks like duff info from a dealer, and the low number of failures makes me feel happy.

Its not a recall, i can 100% guarentee that.

its a vehicle specific recall - i.e. if your vehicle falls within the relevant VIN's and specifications, they'll check the part number and if its the accelerator in question, they'll replace it.

only manual diesels are affected, and out of them, only those with a bosch made pedal.

It isn't a recall. Recalls are all listed on the VOSA website and the throttle pedal isn't one of them.

They may know there is a dodgy batch of pedals that were fitted to cars within a certain range of chassis numbers but that doesn't make it a recall.

That was me, it was the info I was given when I collected the car after having it replaced.

Its NOT a recall.

Hi guys,

I was the OP who was asking the question. Please let's not get into a disagreement over it.

My original question was prompted because in four weeks I will be driving my 1.9 TDI Fabia 2 to Spain, where it will live for over six months, maybe even a year. I was worried that this pedal problem might occur outside UK. I know I have Skoda Assist for three years but was worried in case these pedal parts might be LHD or RHD specific and thus might have to wait with the car off the road for a period of time whilst parts were sourced. The worst case scenario would be if it failed during the drive to Spain.

I am having the car (prematurely) serviced before I go, so will check this all out with the Skoda dealer concerned.

At least one thing that has come out of the thread is that it only seems to apply to manual diesels. Just my luck.

Just need to try and check if it is a Bosch made pedal.

V.
