vRS 18" wheels - 16" spare?

Featured Replies

Sorry if this is a silly question, but...

Got the low tyre pressure warning light on today, and sure enough the offside rear is a bit low. Put some more air in it and tomorrow I'm going to get a new tyre for it.

However, I looked at the spare in the boot (for the first time), and it appears that the spare is a standard size steel with a R16 on it. Is this correct or should there be a R18 as the rest are? I don't want to be stuck without a spare, I presume I shouldn't run with 3xR18 and 1xR16?

I got the car as an ex-Demo from the dealership, and it's still in warranty so if is should have a R18 then I'll take it back...

Thanks for your help,

The depth of the wheel will be different. Rather than being a 225/40/18 It will be 195/60/16 or something like that. The exterior circumference of the wheels is the same.

Sounds about right to me. Something to do with the wheel well not being big enough to take an 18" wheel with a 225 section tyre, hence the 16".

Same on the L&K with 17" alloys.
