AUX and 12v Socket

Featured Replies

Is it just me or are they in a truely retarded place? If i put my satnav on charge i have to loop the wires around stuff to keep it off the gearstick/handbrake

Has anyone tried following the cables back? I was wondering if they are accessible somewhere else fairly easily behind the dash where i could splice another socket on out of sight (company car.. leased etc..).

Audio isn't such a problem really because i can get a nice long cable and route it creatively but the 12v is a bit of a bugger.

I have a week off so now is the time to fix it ;)

(Hope the boss doesn't still read this forum)

Thanks all.

Replying to my own thread...

I managed to hardwire in my tomtom. Gave up getting 12v from the back of the socket. bit cramped in there and i cant do anything too descructive because its leased.

Got 12v from the fuse box and used an inline fuse. Ground i ended up stealing from the back of the VAGCOM connector (probably not the best idea but i couldn't see any ground points/metal that was easy to get to without taking the car to bits)
