only mods i know for this have only been on vectras.

I saw some Octavias with cooled glovebox, mine was supposed to have it too,but when I took the car from the dealer... there was only a normal glovebox.I am curious about this retrofit too.

I know the mk5 golfs have the option, and guess the same for mk2 Octavia's? you sure it can be done on a mk1 Octavia?

Take a piece of pipe and make a hole in a spare A/C pipe, say the front vents and pipe it into a hole in the side of the glovebox making sure everything is sealed.

Problem is that will get you whatever temp is blowing, although if you have climate, auto usually puts hot air down and cold air high.

Otherwise I'd say it's a no go and just get a chilled cool box that works of the ciggy lighter instead.

AFAIK, the cabin air passes over the A/C evaporator before going into the heater matrix, so if you can tap into the air system somewhere between these two points, then you'll have an answer. That's all that happens in the Fabia's cooled glove compartment, anyway. It's reasonably effective at keeping stuff that's previously been in the fridge cool, but it's not good enough to cool something down that's warm...

The one I saw had a separate button to set the glovebox temperature,it was a round graded button :P

What? On the dash or inside the glovebox? If you're talking about the kn0b inside the glovebox, it just has a hole in it that you turn to either cover the cold air outlet or not. It's no more complicated than that... ;)

I have sen this for an audi a3 or a4 and there is a pipe available as an extra to do it from audi which has a variable aperture to control the flow of cold air ,I looked at the back of the glovebox on my mk1 octy and there is a round flat panel at the back which looks suitable

Yep.

No skoda I have seen has ever had a chill it button.

It's a button inside the glovebox that either fully covers the cold air outlet or it fully "opens" that cold air outlet.I'm not sure if that air has the same temperature as the one you set on the climatronic but I remember when I saw it...the whole glovebox(the plastic) was very very cold.I never got inside another Octavia beside mine...so I can't tell you more as I only saw that cooled glovebox once in my life :)

Ahh no that isn't a button it just twists to cover a hole.

It's the same air as per the climate so you could just do the pipe thing as suggested.

I've never seen or heard of it on a MK I Octy, only the MK II

Was available on the mk1 fabia as well, and you got a can cooler on the drivers side under the dash by the steering wheel
