CompBrake 6 pot big brake upgrade.

Featured Replies

Hi guys, the time has come to sort the brakes out of my Octy Vrs. Pads and discs are not lasting long and get well and truly cooked at the Nurburgring each year. Been loking at several different kits but the prices are crazy

At the cheaper end there is a choice of 2.

There is the brembo GT kit but these are only 4 pot, and have a one peice 323mm disc :thumbdwn: - Rather heavy!

But the one that has been grabbing me are from Compbrake, these feature a 6 pot aluminum caliper and a choice of 330mm or 350mm x32mm two piece discs.

I'd like to be able to fit the original wheels back for winter so that means the 330 x32mm option.

6 POT RANGE

Have any of you got any experience with these and what do you think? I called them today and they don't think they have ever been put on an Octavia. I'm asuming because they are for the MK4 golf they should go on without any issues?

All in they cost £1050 for calipers, discs, pads, brackets and braided brake lines

Should I give them a go? And before people say anything, I have run uprated discs and Ferrodo DS2500 pads and they are just not up to the task of the Nurburgring on a really fast lap.

Most impotantly will MK4 golf brakes fit without ANY issues?

Cheers guys

I can't help you n the octy but I have retro fitted 6 pots to the V8 and the difference over the standard brembo's was well worth it.

I have Hi Spec monster 6 calipers. Not sure if they do an octy kit but you can get most of the stuff from them to build a kit.

Cheers

Brake upgrades are very worthwhile. Some might say overkill, i'd say ******!!

Everyone is always more concerned about how quickly they can accelerate rather than what stops them hitting the tw@ who has just pulled out in front of them.

I say DO IT!!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

And yes, Golf mk.iv brakes should fit.

Cheers guys, did either of you have any bias issues when uprating the front brakes to such a serious degree?

Watching this thread with interest :)

Good stuff, I've aranged to meet a guy from Compbrake on Friday to have a chat and have a look at various samples. Will be interesting to have a look.

I'll keep you all informed.

No but on the Lotus the back brakes just keep it in line.

This was my first upgrade on the V8 as I wanted brakes that could cope with the power upgrades I had planned. Safe to say they cope.

If you really need to you could always fit a bias anyway.

If you look at the hispec route they do a 4 pot rear caliper with handbrake if you need it.

Cheers
