I have a fabia 1.4 tdi. I would like to fit Petes tuning box in my car Pete's Performance Products. . Is it good. Will that put a strain on my cars engine and affect its life.

I'd go with a remap by the likes of CustoCode or Revo/APS personally!

Petes is the most reliable product available here and there are not many remap experts around since this is pretty new stuff here. Petes box is used by many octavias and mjd crdi engines. I need to know whether boosting power to 90bhp is ok.

I think a boost of power 90bhp should be OK but I would try and find an Indian forum to see what they say.

If it is a box full of resistors keep away from it.

I think there has been soime confusion... THe OP is in India, not the UK (obvious from the website link) so has a limited choice as to what is available.

It looks like the box is a digital one so if comparable to something like a Dragon box, as available over here, I would have thought it would be OK.

I've had a Dragon box on for quite a while now - just over half the power boost of a remap for just over half the cost (new; I got mine second-hand! ) There are numerous threads on the merits of analogue 'tuning boxes', digital ones and remaps. 90 bhp would be OK from the engine and transmission's point of view I'd have thought, and ought to be achievable with just a box!

Pete is someone who is well respected in this country

Maybe a silly question but what are the prices like for Pete's units over with you and how do they compare with the costs over here? (thinking how cost + shipping to the UK might compare to a Dragon unit from the UK)

Hey, I read the link & if you look a little more closely you'll notice Pete seems to offer Remaps by Custom-Code! Unfortunately he doesn't seem to list your 1.4TDI 80hp model nor does he list the Fabia what-so-ever... Yet it appears from C-C's UK site that the older 75hp version they remap to 105-110hp plus take the torque from 145 to 175-185! Pricing @ £300 plus VAT...

Didn't occur to me till after I'd finished typing this post, that you likely get the 70hp version. Yet the info. is still legit...

Have no reason to believe that it would invalidate your warranty any more or less than Pete's' tunning box... That said make sure you get the ability to switch between the 2 programs. Important to inquire if for some reason it gets reflashed. That they'll reinstall the CC program at no additional charge!

I was assuming it was the one listed as the 'Laura', but that turns out to be the Octavia II!

Having said this, I believe tuning boxes are engine specific rather than model specific, so as long as you get the correct box for your engine, it doesn't matter whether it's in a Fabia, a Polo, an Ibiza or whatever...

1 INR = 0.0116767 GBP

1 GBP = 85.6404 INR

Doesn't look like it would be any cheaper than a Dragon Box once shipping and potentially customs fees are added.

Ok so maybe not the financial bargain I thought it might have been.
