04 vRS mk1 60k Service

Featured Replies

So it is coming up. It's a 55 plate mk1 and is getting close to 50k, its due for its next service at 59k or October this year. Simple question what can I expect?

Anyone had a 60k service shock? If so where did you get it done and more importantly how much!

Thats the cambelt service so not cheap.

A 60k with cambelt change is probably the largest service most owners will carry out. Prices do seem to vary quite a bit in different parts of the country, reading what people have paid on here.

I paid £550 last year, at Awesome, which include an aircon re-gas, full service, replacing the aux belt and tensioners. The whole 9 yards basically :) I thought that was fairly reasonable TBH, for what I was getting....

Daft question i know but I've never had to service a car like this before, I've always just done the basics myself. Would somewhere like Awsome give you a SH stamp?

Yes, of course. No problem. Of course, it's worth seeing what your local dealer will quote for the work. Have a look in the reviews section on here too, for experiences from other members of your local place. Alternatively, seek out a smaller VAG specialist in your area. I've done this in the past with other VAG cars I've had.

Whereabouts are you?

Northwich so its not too far from the Manchester area.

Had 120k cam belt service at dealer last year, all in including new water pump cost £692, still cheaper than some makes.;)

Ahh very local then! I'm just down the 556 from you :)

Awesome would be a natural choice then, if you want to go independant. Just over the Ship Canal in Irlam. They're a site sponsor on here, so you can leave a post for them and get your questions answered. Sarah's very helpful

Thinking of dealers, Robert Eardley come recommended in Crewe.

Well FYI a cambelt kit change with waterpump cost me £280 all in from Alex Lawrie Skoda in Bootle.

Doesn't sound too bad. I'll have to phone around and get some prices.

Not a bad price for the change from a dealer. What do they charge for the 60k service, out of interest?

Steve

I have no idea, I only go to Skoda for the major work, robbing gits. ;)
