Remap fabia what does it mean

Featured Replies

Hi i know this is a long way away but this time next year im getting my first vrs and im already looking into getting more power out of it (Ive never been in a vrs and it probably wont need more power) but i keep reading about re-mapping it to get more torque and BHP

to be honest i don't know what a re map is because im thick and cant find it explained ANYWHERE !

can someone please explain to me in lame mans terms ;) jabasport is near me who apparently do it for you

Cheers

Craig

Someone with a computer plugs it upto your car, and rewrites / flashes your ECU (brain of the car) to add more fuel etc etc, inreasing torque and bhp.

Only really worthwhile on turbo'd car's

This should explain everything for you ;)

wicked thanks guys i guess you have to tell your insurance company that you have done this? what if you played ignorant and when i buy a 2nd hand car say that i ddnt know that it had been done by the previous owners. i will be getting a 1.9 tdi vrs so that looks like it will have the most gain from a re map?

Yes you do have to advise your insurance company of any mods made to your car, 2 main reasons.

1) its illegal not to tell them

2) insurance companies will look for any reason not to pay out,and ignorace is no defence as far as insurance or the police are concerned.

Be careful which insurance company you go with, ask if they accept remaps BEFORE you part with any money to them, as some companies will not accept any mods & some will charge you silly money on top of your premium.

Agreed with above. Pleading ignorance is no excuse, i found out the hard way :(

Very sound advice. NU Direct would not allow any engine performance mods on my wife's Fabia, but were OK about a Jabba rear ARB.
