Just messaged seat surgeons. Leather!!!!

Featured Replies

Does anyone know why Seat Sugeons DON'T do different material centre panels??

How much more difficult is it to use a different fabric and stich it to leather?

I'd have got a re-trim ages ago if they did. I just don't like the idea of burned or frozen legs and back - depending on the season of course!!!

It's to keep the costs down I think. As they get the leather made up outside the UK, in China IIRC. Then it's a case of getting your car in, removing the existing seat covers and applying your chosen spec.

When you start to introduce variables such as alcantara centres, or fabric, the prices will start to increase rather quickly.

I just copy the Octy 2 RS stile:

Grey perforated leather in seats, "normal" for the rest.

Nice idea, I like that. I might have gone for a slightly darker grey contrasting leather, but still

Have you had the glovebox lid trimmed as well??

Steve

Yes, all the dashboard in leather, but the glovebox must be done again, it´s a bit :thumbdwn:

At first the trim wasn´t ok

so I tried to repair it, but was no better

The trims for the airbag are needed if you want the passenger airbag working ok.

It´s more beauty only one piece, but safety is first.

Very nice! Certainly gives a bit more quality to the interior. You're right, it's a shame about the passenger airbag section, but not much you can do!

Talking to Paul this week at Seat Surgeons, yes the covers are made in China, in his own factory there - he set it up from scratch and obviously manages it closely to make sure the quality is right.

That's a really nice job there Ricko.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the first Seat Surgeons re-trim I've seen on here with the VRS badge where it should be.

Yes, and boy am I pleased to see it!!!

How about black with dark grey inserts? Anyone seen one like that?

I spy with my little eye that 'Reuben RS' - has rear electric windows! There are 4 switches, was that standard for the European vRS?

Well Ive just ordered my seats. Black nappa, with black stitching and grey middles.

Also Ive got them to stitch the VRS logo, where it should be and not in the top panel near the headrest.

Just waiting a call so can get them fitted

Anyone else gonna meet me there? You know you want to...:D

I'd love to get it done when I get mine but does it affect the insurance in anyway? Do you have to tell them legally or could you just say you were "repairing" the seats?

Being 19 I'm already being battered by them so don't want it to up by a huge amount. A bit more I don't mind but not by hundreds of pounds.

I have had mine in since December 06 from Seat Surgeons. I ran up to York from Bristol while running in my New Sprint Yellow vRS. Still delighted with the seats. Always brings a smile to my face when I was told I have 6 Chinese cows in my car:) by the boss. He told me one hell of a tale about his problems when he lost his passport in China on a visit to his supplier/partner !! Worth asking him when you are up there. Good people to deal with
