Hello Hello!

Orite Briskodians!

My name's Tom, I live in London (well, to be honest, Essex)...I've just put down my cash for a brand new Octy vRS in Race Blue, with all the trimmings, which should be arriving in September. The wait is actually killing me!

I wanted to pick all your brains about a couple of things...When I finally pick up my new baby, I want to keep her in tip-top nick. Is it worth getting her detailed when new, and then regularly cleaning and polishing myself, or is it not really worth it? I've never had a new car before; I'm currently cruising round in a battered Y-reg Toyota Avensis with 90K on the clock, so the Octy is a bit of an upgrade and will be suitably lavished! Really looking for any hints/tips on keeping her brilliantly clean and running well! On that note, how long should I run her in for, and what should I do to run her in?

Cheers in advance for any comments, I'm looking forwards to meeting a few of you when I finally pick up the new wagon!

Welcome :)

I'd probably go with a professional detail when new and by the time it comes around to needing doing again (say after six months or so), you'll have picked up the knowledge yourself.

Dealers are a nightmare for swirl marks.

welcome. nice choice.
