changing headlights for continental use on Fabia 3

Featured Replies

Just got me new Fabia 3 and am off to France for the Classic Le Mans in a couple of weeks. My handbook says the module headlights are both left and right hand drive.

Anyone know how the change over from RHD to LHD is done, and is it easy to do?

The book says its a dealer job but they would, wouldn't they.

As I shall be returning on a late ferry I would like to be able to change the lights back to RHD at the docks, if possible. Failing that it will the stick ons again, which I have always used before but would prefer not to now that I don't have to.

Just get the stickers that you place on the outer part of the light.

To make the physical change your fabia must have projector headlights/xenons and even then is a dealer job on the new fabia because the headlight needs to be removed.

Thanks for the reply.

As I said in my OP I have a Fabia 3, with module lights, so therefore have correct headlights.

It all seems a bit pointless to even mention the fact that the lights can be changed from RHD to LHD if it is that complicated. Can't see anyone wanting it doing unless they were moving abroad permanently.

However, I had a look at the back of the right hand light and although it is difficult to see a lot there is a small lever to the right of the bulb which can be moved up and down and does appear to affect the dipped beam pattern. I didn't have a chance to try out the affect in the dark but will do soon.

I finally had a chance to play with headlights and the small lever does seem to remove the kick up on the left side of the beam, making it acceptable to use on the Continent, but it is not a true LHD beam. The off side light seems to be less well converted than the near side which has a good flat cutoff.

All I need to do now is adjust the aim of the lights. Why do people think that dipped beams shining about 10 feet in front of the car is how they should be set? Mind you, some prats drive around on fog lights and parking lights!
