How many miles will the VRS last ??

23k miles and going well, a couple of whee bearing noises at the minute. but these are only noticed when going round a corner sharply but still, not sure the dealer would fix these under warranty at the minute

My vrs has just passed 23k and I was wonedring what the forums opinion is on how long, or how many miles can I expect my beloved vrs to last without anything serious going wrong ??

You don't say how old your car is, but in my experience I'd rather buy a diesel that's done 30,000 miles per year rather than one that's done 10,000 miles per year. They like to be warmed through and run. That said, if it's properly serviced and maintained it should last forever. Cars these days generally don't die from rust anymore and most of my suspension components were still going strong after 65,000 miles. The engines are supposedly good for 250,000 miles plus without major work and a leather retrim at Seat Surgeons should bring the interior up a treat when it starts to look old.I think you can safely look forward to at least another 5-10 years of use yet...

Mine is about to tick over onto 116k.

Few niggles, but all to be expected.

Clutch is slipping (although original item) it was really bad, but seems to have found a new lease of life. (about to be replaced)

EGR leaking quite heavily (about to get removed anyway)

Vacuum/Tandem pump is leaking. ( got a new one ready to be fitted)

All in all, considering the mileage, it still goes very well indeed.

Certainly think it would last the same mileage again once the niggles are fixed.

After all, it's only 5 years old !!!

Can i ask how your know the vacuum pump is knackered. Mine is buzzing when the has been turned off after a reasonable run. No faults and things seems to fine. Does yours buzz??

The PD130 engine is a peach. Yes the odd turbo goes, but I think thats mainly down to them being under-used and the vanes sticking, or through not warming up/cooling down correctly. Otherwise the odd sensor here and there, but a very good engine all the same. Plenty now knocking around with over 300k on.

Its the rest of the car that most will experience some level of problems with. Expect wishbone bushes every 60k or so, problems with the climatic, and plenty of other non-engine related problems we see over and over again.

Saying that though, the Fabia is better than most cars! :)

Never heard it make a noise at all....

But i know mine is knackered...cos it spews diesel out all over the place! :thumbdwn:

Leaking vacuum/tandem pumps were a recall on some of the PD engines a few years back.

LUK pumps were bad for it, and thats what's on mine, but i've bought the Bosch alternative, which were never prone to leaking.
