Interior Fan switch

Featured Replies

Hi Guy's,

Long time no post.... sorry.

Anyway I've recently purchased a T reg Felicia Estate 1.6 SLXi. It's pretty mint, 1 lady owner, FSH with 60k. It also has air-con....? NiCE.

The only things wrong with it are:

1). The interior fan will only blow on number 3. Is this just a faulty switch on the dash?

2). The air-con isn't very cold. Is this just in need of a re-gas?

Cheers.

Wow air con, didn't think any UK models had it. Would probably need a regas, but apparently while having it gassed again, you can get them to put some sort of dye in as well so it will be made obvious where any leaks come from.

i'd imagine it is the dash switch m8. fords do the exact same thing. transits kas escorts and fiestas all work on number4 only!!!!

WOW is what I thought. I thought it was a misprint but yep it's there. Halfords are doing the gas for £40 and chucking in a free sanitizer thing worth £12. Not sure whether to go for it or go to a garage and get it done.....?

As for the switch.... anyone know how much from a main dealer? Couldn't see any on fleaBay.

The fan only working on number 3 could be the switch, but my guessing is the resistor pack has failed. Happened on my old mondeo, fan would only work on number 4. Changed the resistor pack and all 4 speeds were back. Usually everything stops working when the switch goes.

Does anyone know roughly how much the Resisitor pack costs? Cheers.

Oh, does anyone also know if it is main dealer only or not? Thanks.

Fan I'd think resistor pack or contacts, depending on detail design.

Ref the aircon, I'd steer clear of Halfrauds, and go to an automotive aircon place, who'll do a dye test for leaks before regassing, and give you a sensible estimate for actual costs if there's bits need replacing.

Right main dealer wants nearly £30 for a new resisitor...

Sorry to be a pain, but I haven't got a Haynes lie book yet, so could anyone tell me where the damn thing is so I can do some testing?

Cheers.

Unless i'm much mistaken the dye is added with the gas. And in theory if there is a known leak you shouldnt fill the system with R134a either.

oooh, i've got a series resistor somewhere.... i'll see if i can find it

it's on the end of the heater motor housing (in the engine bay), kind of under the widscreen wiper motor... iirc it has a 6pin connector on it but i could be wrong
