Help Please! Ecu/Immobiliser Coding

Featured Replies

hi guys i have just bought a keyless entry kit for my octy - Remote Keyless Entry for car central lock KE60BPLUS on eBay, also Car Alarms Immobilisers, Security Electrical, Car Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Jul-08 01:57:32 BST)

i have been told that once i get the key cut i need to get the key coded to work with my immobiliser/ecu so it will start my car. Is this true? can this only be done through skoda? is there anyway around this? my car doesnt have remote locking and ive opened up my existing key and it doesnt look like there is any chip that would indicate any ecu/immobiliser coding.

i know thats a lot of questions but any help would be awesome.

i have a 1999 mk.1 octy if thats any help

thanks guys!

anyone?

Hi James unfortunatly you are right if you get a new key cut it will need coding to the immobileser at a dealer as they are all done online now ,unless you have the plastic tag with the pin number on it and a mate with vagcom the dealer is your only port of call they should only charge around 35 40 quid it takes about 15 mins to do

anyone?

Have you looked in the same post in Ask A Tech?

just leave your old key attached to the remote plip the immo antenna should still pick it up from there, if so either cut off the old key leaving the plastic part as a key fob or cut the transponder out and glue it in your new remote as it will have no chip in it to code anyway.

actually reading the ebay ad - there is a space in the new remote for the immo chip (RFD).

So - remove from one of the old keys and insert. Very gently. No need to mess about with any coding rubbish.

If you can get the transponder out, some are bonded in and break if you try to remove them.

Just stick your old key under your dashboard and do away with your immobiliser! no one will nick your car unless its the VRS and then they will burgle ur house for the Keys anyway! Immobilisers are fast becoming pointless! Am I been too negative? lol
