Projector Headlights

Featured Replies

Hi all, a quick question, do the skoda dealerships sell the factory fitted projector headlamps as an accessory? if so how much? thanks:)

Dont think so..

Headight units are around £500 each IIRC

Then you need the self levelling system, bumper cutouts, bigger 5l screen wash resevour (sp)

Not worth it.

And please dont resort to those awefull, illegal, annoying, dangerous kits from ebay

Do you mean the xenons?

If so dont consider it as an aftermarket fit using genuine parts unless you have a bottomless pit!

Or to echo jase, the skanky kits off ebay!

Just get some good bulbs in the standard lights

is there any difference with the xenon headlights compared with the standard?

Why are the ebay/aftermarket kits annoying/dangerous? My mate has them, and there fine as far as i can tell. Decent adjustment, beam is good, and dosnt blind anyone.

I had them for about 2 weeks, the ones off ebay.

Vision was improved by quite a bit, but they looked a bit crap, just like a big blue blob coming down the road (I had 6000kelvin).

They also seemed to glare quite a bit.

It was fine driving just me in the car, but with 3 passenger even on the beams lowest setting everyone was flashing me.

In the end I removed them as they didnt look very good, and couldnt be bothered to change them come MOT time.

I put the standard bulbs back in and tbh vision wasnt that much worse than the HID kit, just yellower

maybe they were a bit naff. My mates are pretty good, no dazzel even 4 up. his were £60 i think.

If theyre off eBay from King Kongistan or wherever theyre all the same thing just rebadged, those are the ones I had.

Thanks for everyones quick reply. your opinions greatly appreciated.

The ebay kits dont work to well on the fabia because of the design of the headlight. The clear lenses mean that the beam is generated in the reflector, some of the cheaper HID kits move the filament outwards towards the clear lens and this causes the beam pattern to distort and cause massive glare for oncoming traffic. With a traditional headlight this isnt a problem because the beam is generated by the pattern on the headlight glass.

Why are the ebay/aftermarket kits annoying/dangerous?

because they don't come with the legal requirement of a self levelling system

because they don't come with the legal requirement of a self levelling system

that doesnt make them dangerous

if the projector lense is suitable then they will be fine

the fabia's isnt

because they don't come with the legal requirement of a self levelling system

how is that annoying/dangerous? as long as no one is dazzeled whats the problem? :)

as i say, maybe chris just has a paticularly good kit? but as for as i know, he`s not had any flashing back at hit etc.

But you will still dazzle everyone because they are for LHD.

There no way to change the setup?

There no way to change the setup?

Nope. There was a spark of interest from the manufacturer in making a RHD set, but I don't think they could even get 10 names for a group buy, and I'm pretty sure it fell through.

Meh!! Oh well, my hunt for some will continue

Had this one before. Boring zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Had this one before. Boring zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Really? Yet you continue to look for ways to get round it.....

Who, how, what, where?

Simply a solution to the guys question, but only done in LHD

Gentlemen, let me offer you some pearls of wisdom from someone who has his pension in sight. If you carry out such a conversion and declare it your insurance company, they will (if they are worth their salt) refuse cover. If you carry out the conversion and do not declare and then subsequently need to claim, they will very probably refuse cover. This may leave you in a very embarrasing, expensive situation - I have been hit twice by morons with no insurance, I can assure you that I chased them relentlessly through the courts to obtain settlement.

If you find this boring then I'm sorry for you, and genuinely hope that you do not find yourself on the receiving end of an uninsured driver.

My 2p.
