Alloys for my Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Having used the superb search facility for lots of useful information i've come unstuck with some info i need regarding getting myself some new alloys.

The basic questions i need answering by you knowledgeable people are

1) whats the largest size alloys i can fit to my fabia - im looking at 18". And what would the tyre sizes be?

2) Do i need spacers? and what are they?

3) Any recommendations for reasonably priced alloys?

Thanks for your help in advance and thanks to they guys who post on this site, the info and detail is immense. I've even managed to do an oil and filter change for the first time...

I would go for 17" TBH :)

18" wheels and tyres are quite difficult to do tidily on a Fabia. It's definitely possible, but most folks settle for 17".

harsh ride with 18"..go for 17 x 7 or 7.5 with 215 x40 x17...rs6 reps look good for about £500 with decent tyres.

Nice constructive reply. :(

Anyway, as a point, Reps can be very soft compared to OEM wheels, and as for everyday driving, i would expect potholes to be covered under that heading, so a strong wheel is something i would take into consideration when buying aftermarket wheels.

yip.....you can pick up several choices, have a look on this forum and others to see what you can get, my S3 alloys are very stong and have proved it on country roads near me but......they might be up for sale shortly......i fancy some tt 6 spoke ones in silver this time

no potholes on the roads i travel on everyday

Good for you.

do you live in beirut?

Yes i do.

But i cant see what this has to do with the original posts...so both our posts are no longer relevant to the OP's question.

Not meaning to fuel any wheel-based fires, but I spotted some (good quality) replicas that I think would look excellent:

Would give a nice fresh Euro type look on the Fab I reckon

I agree, but myself and lewis were just pointing out the flipside of that too.

I do agree that not all rep wheels are bad, just some.

Agree on the rep issue, you need to know what you're buying. Buying just any old replica isn't a good idea IMHO.

The link is to a classified ad on the Edition38 forum. Can you not see it when you click the link? Maybe you need to register first, sorry. I'll try and post a direct photo instead.

Steve

You need to register to view Classifieds on E38. :)

Go for some 18's boyo, thers a lot of arch to be filled. As for ride quality what do you expect when upgrading to larger alloys?

And to all the previous posts about reps it's pretty much you get what you pay for. In my opinion don't buy new if you want a decent wheel, keep roaming the classifieds, theres always inspiration on edition38 check out the 'mk4' section. I got a set of straight 17x8 ASA AR1's with toyo proxies all round (205,40's) for £300.

Here's the pics from the E38 ad. Don't mind passing on contact details to the seller if anyone's interested:
