WRX to Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

Converted to a VRS after 2 years as a Import WRX owner.

The WRX is a fantastic car, but with ridiculous bills....

So looked for a replacement, Cupra R - too pricey for what you get, Megane 225 - renault dealers are the worst, Honda Civic type R - noisiest car i;'ve driven - quick but have to rev it over 6,000 to get anywhere.

V impressed with the Octavia VRS at the Motor Show, and the price was amazing.

Got a deal (my dads in the business) on a new 04 black VRS, with Xenon lights and metallic paint for

Welcome to Briskoda :wavey:

Octavia isn't quite up to the classic Scooby in terms of outright driving experience, but more than makes up for it in the ownership experience. The Octy has also yet to get into the hands of the "MaxMuppets" brigade, unlike the Scooby..... :)

Welcome to the Briskoda,

you'll spend many an hour here!!!!

indeed u will welcome i to had a scooby wrx sti type 4 the bills were...well u ken what i mean when i say mad! from now on i will just stick to my 50+ mpg in my furby vrs hehe

welcome to the world of Q car ownership... although still a car not alot of people know about you'll notice any BMW driver with less than a 330ci will move the minute he see's you ! ;)

you'll soon be in the "My Performance" section of the site, if you havent already and the slippery slop starts there/here i'm afraid.

One piece of advice for you though, take it easy for the first 1K miles and keep an eye on the oil for that period... then once its ran in the skies the limit.

You may or may not know this already but Jabba reckon the 20vt engine is good for 600bhp :D

Welcome to Briskoda. You most certainly are not the first on here to be tempted away from the Scooby route. Enjoy.

Modified MY01 WRX to Tavia vRS.

No complaints!

Steve

Yep, picked a Tavia 4x4 turbo over a WRX and never looked back!

thanks all.. I will check on the oil etc, being my first brand new car its a bit exciting but scary.. and with the xenon lights and a white work shirt on the cars in front soon move...

Interesting - a lot of Scooby owners seem to go for the 4X4 rather than the vRS because they looooooove four wheel drive. May I ask why you went for the vRS instead?

Witchfinder...

Chose the VRS due to exceptional value for money (over the megane 225, civic type r, seat leon cupra r), styling (interior leather and white seats etc and exterior xenon lights), and 180 bhp over the 4x4 150bhp. If they made a vrs 4x4 then i would have had that.

4wd turbo is unbeatable.. but only if you can afford the bills.

Ah, but if you tweak the engine the 150/180 problem is gone - you go to the same 200+ levels as the vRS so you get those 30bhp as a free bonus. And the 4x4 interior and exterior are tweakable as well, so I've made me a 4x4 vRS myself. Sort of, and quite affordably too.

True Dutch, but this car is brand new and I dont want to play with it too much to invalidate the warranty.

I presume the upgrade in horse power require re-mapping/new ecu? or is it possible to to do it with 'removalable' piggy back chip?
