Corvette ZR1 - 'Ring - rFactor

Featured Replies

This is great on so many levels. Firstly - a Corvette which can go round corners, quickly! 7:26 for a full lap of the Ring sounds impressive to me...

And below that video, a comparison lap in the Corvette C6 on the Tourist circuit on rFactor - I've been practising on this in Caterhams, Mini's*....if you've got a reasonable PC and a Wheel/Pedals and you haven't got rFactor, shame. Put Grid/Forza/GT and all those other 'games' away and try some real driving! ;)

*FWIW I rarely do a flying lap without stacking it - doesn't bode well for September :D

NONE of the games come close to the real thing! :)

The fear of a rather large bill if I stacked it was more than enough of a motivation for me to keep it on the track. :D

That sounds so nice.

You're sort of right - no computer sim can match the real thing - but MS Flightsim is good enough for people to practise for real pilot's licenses (and for me not to humiliate myself on my first - and only - flying lesson) so I'm hopeful that I'll at least know my way around...

...but slowly :D

Nothing can prepare you for the undulations of the circuit which games and vids find it difficult to portray.

Fabulous vid though, the speed he approaches the corners are astonishing

And did you notice the guy's job title? "Development Engineer"

I have to admit, the games are useful for learning the general layout of a track.. when i went to the ring last year, i knew a fair bit of the track (ie left/right bends) but it really doesnt prepare you for is the elevations... i was shocked in places!

Simulations are getting better though.. in Forza i have cars specifically set up for the ring, because low and stiff suspension isnt ideal..

All i know is that a fabia isnt fast enough for the ring ;)

Any car is fast enough for the ring! Although it is quite annoying when you get to the uphill section of the track past Adenau.
