Upgrading Felicia Brakes

Featured Replies

Hi Briskodians,

I've been thinking for a while of a way to upgrade the front brakes on my felly by replacing the standard parts with ones from VW model range. What parts to go for that are a direct replacement?

Dunno about other vw parts, but i would go for a set of drilled and grooved discs and a good set of pads

there isn't anything in the vw model range that will fit, so it will be custom jobbies i'm afraid

i've got wilwood 4 pot calipers on corrado g60 280mm discs

that looks like a after market adapter plate that the calipers are sat on did you get this custom made?

hmmmmmmm

haha sorry didnt read it properly, have you got the plans handy that you used to get them made? + how much did they cost you ?

hmmm, let me just fire up photobucket to see if i can find it

you need to make up a ring to go on as well because the centre spigot for the brake disc is a smaller size (62mm) on the skoda hub as apposed to 65mm on vw hubs

autocad drawing that i produced for them, on the right hand side there is a dimension marked 39, if you reduce this to 26 and adjust the rest accordingly it will fit the 256mm disc instead of 280mm:thumbup:

finished bracket at a cost of approx £150 for the pair

'ring' fitted to the hub

if you want a set made, i'm pretty certain they will still have the CNC cutter paths stored on disc somewhere, i had them done at a local precision engineering firm riddiford racing and engineering they specialize mainly in making parts for speedyway bikes but they will do anything really

thanks for the clarifications and the nice illustrations. I need to enhance the braking power on my felly. Can i achieve this if i replace the rear drums with discs and pads? What to go for?

it is possible to fit rear discs using the stub axles and brake calipers from a lupo or 6n2 polo, but it would need a fair bit of fiddling around to make it work right, not to mention longer hand brake cables
