Im having trouble adapting an ECU to my dashpod..

Featured Replies

I'm trying to fit another ECU to my car, and having followed the procedure to the letter for doing so with VAG COM many many many times taking up many many hours so far of fiddling about, I'm not getting anywhere.

Procedure is as follows:-

Login to the ecu with the 4 digit pin

Select adaptation - channel 50 - read

Enter Pin for old ECU

Test

All goes well up to this point - whereby I should have the save button enabled. The save button does not enable.

I have a fully registered paid for genuine Vag Com version 311.2 and a usb fleaybay cable.

I've tested the functionality of Vag Com quite extensively now, and it all works brill, apart from this enabling of the save button to "pair" my ECU to the car.

Would anyone have any ideas why this could be happening and any possible solutions?

TIA

Do you know someone local that has a ross-tech cable and the lastest software (just incase it's that)

Hi Shifty

The latest version is 805, so a bit of catching up to do !

Redundant quote deleted.

I agree with radiotwo and auroan. Try to find someone with a genuine RT interface cable and the latest software. By the way, what year and model car is this?

To be clear, I am not trying to find fault with the fleabay cable or version 311.2. It just seems to me that a 5 year old version of the software may be having issues with your car, especially if it is newer than '03.

The Ebay interface and v311.2 of Vag com work perfectly well if you have a mk1 Fabia as every vesion afterwards is essentially upgrades and adaptions so that you need the intelligent ross-tech dongle and support for CAN-BUS cars (MK5 golf onwards), which if you don't need, it's not worth having. Even the latest version of VCDS (as it's now known) has more or less the same functionality as 311.2 when used on a mk1 fabia (or mk1 octavia and superb for that matter)

Dave, IIRC VAG added extra security to the ECU coding so that without a valid dealer log in you are unable to do certain things with the car. I'd guess that you'd need to speak to a friendly dealer and slip them a few quid, or if possible, get their supplier number to log into vag com (As you hav not mentioned that you have already done this).

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Immobilizer 3 Instrument Cluster Swapping

*EDIT* Just read Basils post and thread, looks like that may work too.

Hmm, so sounds like you just need to have over 12v...

Good to hear you got it sorted mate.

Should be getting mine mapped fairly soon again. Need to get my exams out the way first though, and get the water/meth kit on too. :)

Get it RR'd asap mate. Be interested to know if your torque curve has been smoothed out, and peaks higher up, as it should do with a derv running big turbo. :)

Just glad to hear you're happy mate.....
