Another Roomster Rookie On The Loose...

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

I recently bougt my first Skoda - a Roomster which I'm already in love with. It's the small 1.2 (70 BHP) gasoline engine but nicely equipped with Climatronic climate control, cruise control, Sunset glass, roof rails and 15" "Line" alloys in order to name some of the more extravagant extras. It's cappucino beige metallic and looks just right in my book. :) Even people who don't fancy the Roomster design say it's not bad. ;)

My windscreen was unfortunate enough to catch a small stone on the motorway and got a long crack just 2 days after I picked it up from the dealer but other than that is has been a true joy. I'm having the windscreen replaced this Thursday.

The cruise control and Climatronic climate control makes it very relaxing to drive and it's indeed a very very practical car. The 1.2 HTP 3-cylinder engine may not win any drag racing sprints but I don't think it has any problems keeping up with everyday traffic here in Denmark. I drove a '96 1.2 Fiat Punto before and compared to that it feels a tiny bit quicker so I don't actually feel I have made a sacrifice with regards to performance when choosing the smallest engine - I'm just happy about the fact that it's fairly economical to drive and more service friendly (no timing belt) compared to its larger siblings. It's quite possible that people who are used to driving more powerful cars may find it a little dull but it suits our needs brilliantly. A 6th gear would perhaps have been nice for fast motorway cruising (or in a perfect world VW's new 7-speed DSG) but the little engine is revving along fine when it has to so what the heck.

Looking forward to learning and sharing in here.

Cheers,

Thor (from Denmark)
