Brake Servo Leaking Air?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just recently I have noticed what sounds like an air leak coming from the bulkhead (drivers side) which is linked to the brakes, if I push the brake pedal whilst moving the air leak stops, then starts again as soon as I release the brake pedal.

The hissing sound is normally present once the revs have increased - probably because there is more pressure at that time but will stay around most of the time.

Could this be unique to the 4x4/Scout model because of the brake cleaning system or across the Octi II range?

Any advice much appreciated.

This is driving me nuts, waiting for a part on order - some one-way valve in the braking circuit but I believe the problem is the Servo because this is where the noise is coming from (behind the Brake Pedal, otherside of the bulkhead), anyway the hissing sound is really noisy now & is un-bearable.

Anyone out there know of this problem?

Ooh look I'm replying to myself again, I must have finally lost it.

Seriously, this thread is really for those people who search for this problem in the future.

If anyone has a similar problem like the one I have described above - (hissing coming from behind brake pedal) then it is your brake Servo!

I've just had mine replaced under warranty, not a common fault but apparently a b1tch to replace, was in for over 2 days!

What kinda of feeling were you getting from the pedal. Mine does not inspire much confidence, no bite. I've spoke about it quite a bit on here.

I've got the same sound as you
